HOWARD JONES - AN ARTIST IS BORN - February 23, 2014

Today's special An Artist Is Born birthday shoutout goes to HOWARD JONES (1955). A singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, Jones is considered to be one of the defining figures of mid-1980s synth pop. He has released 10 studio albums, 4 of which have charted in the United States, and has had several hit singles, including "Things Can Only Get Better (US - #5)," "No One Is To Blame (US - #4)," and "Everlasting Love (US - #12)." Additionally, he has started his own record label, Dtox. Jones was also the keyboardist for Ringo Starr's All Starr Band's 2001 tour and has worked as a songwriter for other artists, including German synth pop group Propaganda.

Other noble music birthdays today include guitarist Johnny Winter (1944), Poco frontman Rusty Young (1946), Sweet bassist Steve Priest (1950), Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford (1952), Europe guitarist John Norum (1964), Chris Vrenna of Tweaker (1967), and Lars-Olof Johansson of The Cardigans (1973).
