Thomas Mitchell Music Director / Guitar and Bass Instructor

A recent transplant from the east coast, guitar/ bass instructor Tom “Fozzy” Mitchell brings a unique teaching style to Vista with emphasis on understanding music and not just one particular instrument. Following graduation from Bucknell University with a BA in Music as well as minors in Religion and Philosophy, Tom began teaching at the Downingtown School of Rock in late 2005. After the breakup of his band in October of 2007, Tom has been writing and producing his own material; performing most of the guitar, bass, vocal, and keyboard parts: “These past few months have been great in terms of really breaking down songwriting and arrangement. That being said, it has really given me perspective on what music is really all about: interaction. It has made me feel extremely blessed to be part of a program that teaches kids not only how to play, but how to interact with other musicians. Priceless!”

Jody Michael Bagley Show Director, Keyboard and Voice Instructor

Since the age of five Jody Bagley has been singing his way through life. The singer/songwriter and composer was born and raised in a small town in southern Maine where, when he was just six years old, he became the youngest person ever to join Maine’s premier boy choir, The Boy Singers of Maine. With the group, he toured much of the United States and Europe, all before reaching the age of fourteen. He also began playing many instruments at a young age, including Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, and the Tuba. Throughout high school and college Jody focused his talents on studying music education, music theory, composition, classical voice, and piano. In 2005 Jody was a founding member of Sidecar Heroes, a male a cappella group that became well known in the state of Maine and New England. Being a lover of all styles of music, Jody is also a member of the rock band A New Vision as a piano player and vocalist. Again, this put him on stage in front of large crowds throughout the east coast, often sharing stages with popular national acts. He has been Music Director and accompanist for 12 musicals in the last three years, including a production for Coronado High School. Now located in San Diego, California, Jody is the Music Director at Christ Church Unity, a Music Teacher at the Paul Green School of Rock Music, a Youth Leader and Music Teacher for the YMCA, and accompanist for the San Diego Choral Club. Jody is also working on a solo album of original music and is represented by Black Candle Management and Gotham Records.
