workshop description
In this workshop, students will learn how to write their own songs from scratch. They will learn techniques in lyric writing, song structure, music theory, and collaboration. This workshop will be part classroom, part solo work, and part band. As students learn songwriting concepts they will break out and put those concepts into practice, developing parts to their songs. They will then come together with other students to form their creations into full pieces of music. Starting with a small lyrical, melodic, or rhythmic idea, and then hearing a full song come to fruition is one of the most fulfilling parts about being a musician. Students who complete this workshop will gain fresh ideas and knowledge of how to continue and improve their life-long songwriting journey.
SCHEDULE
- Workshop runs Tuesday, August 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
