Frank Zummo Drum Workshop + Live Student Showcase
Most drummers spend years dreaming about sharing a stage with a pro who plays stadiums. Our students get to do it this fall. On Sunday, November 8, Frank Zummo brings an exclusive drum workshop to Cervantes' Other Side in Denver, and School of Rock House Band students from locations across Colorado, including School of Rock Aurora, will open the show before joining him on stage for a live set. It's a free family event and one of the biggest live music days on our calendar.
Zummo has been behind the kit for pop punk band Sum 41 since 2015. He's a founding member of Street Drum Corps and has played with Mötley Crüe, Krewella, Gary Numan, Scott Weiland, Orianthi and many more. He's currently on tour with German electronicore band Electric Callboy, selling out stadiums around the globe. His book, Unbreakable Rhythm, is about passion, purpose and relentless drive, and this workshop digs into the beat behind resilience, with an open discussion, a Q&A about life as an internationally touring musician, and a book signing.
The student rock band players on that stage have been working on these songs all season at the school. School of Rock Aurora is an extracurricular, performance-based music school offering programs for students ages 4 through adult. Our students learn guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals by playing real songs in real bands, then take them to real stages. Zummo has called what School of Rock does "the coolest thing that is happening in music," and it's easy to see why. Kids playing live, loud, together, in Aurora, Denver and hundreds of cities around the world, is where the future of music is being built right now.
Tickets are free, but we highly recommend you RSVP through the Cervantes' ticket link to lock in your spot. Bring the whole family and watch these young musicians play a room like pros. And if you leave wanting your kid up there next time, book a free trial lesson at schoolofrock.com/aurora. Music lessons in Aurora start here, at the kids music school where every student plays live.
