On Saturday, May 16th, our Performance Program students took the stage at Chop Shop in Chicago, IL to pay tribute to some of our favorite music festivals.
Riot Fest paid tribute to artists of all genres from this Chicago based festival. Whether it was "Flash Light" by Parliment, "Dr. Dog" by the Ark, or "The Gold" by Manchester Orchastra, Riot Fest put on a show to remember. This group focused on bands who played the fesitval during the 2000's, including other artists like Blink-182, Weezer, Green Day, Dinosuar Jr. and many more.
Ozzfest kept the energy high while throwing it back to the 1990's. Though featuring classic Ozzy tunes like "Crazy Train" and "I Don't Know," Ozzfest didn't dissapoint with the other songs on it's roster. During the performance of "John the Fisherman" by Primus, it was reported a shark was seen on stage battling the fisherman themself. The group also paid tribute to Danzig, Slipknot, System of a Down and Megadeath.
Live Aid took it back to 1985 for it's single performance. With house hold names, both now and then, our students paid tribute to Madonna, David Bowie, The Cars, The Police and many more. Some notable tunes included "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen and "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams.
Last but not least, our oldest show this season was Woodstock. With tunes picked from the 1969 roster, our students took us back to the foundations of rock and roll with Jimi Hendrix, Creedance Clearwater Revival and Janis Joplin. You may have recognized "My Generation" by The Who or "Dance to the Music" by Sly and the Family Stone.
