When does School of Rock Halifax Open?

We're currently working toward opening our doors in January 2027.

Our team is busy behind the scenes preparing an incredible space for future rockers. Construction planning is underway, equipment is being ordered, staff recruitment will begin soon, and we're working closely with our corporate team to ensure everything is ready for an amazing launch.

When Can I Register?

Registration for School of Rock Halifax is expected to open this fall as we prepare for our anticipated January 2027 opening.

Families who join our mailing list will be the first to know when registration opens and will receive updates throughout our journey to opening day. They'll also have access to Early Registration and exclusive Founding Member perks, with more details to be announced soon.

What does School of Rock teach?

School of Rock teaches guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard + piano, and singing. What sets School of Rock apart from traditional music lessons is our Method™ which combines one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals and live performances, teaching students how to play together as a band.

What makes School of Rock different from traditional music lessons?

At School of Rock Halifax, we don't just teach music—we create musicians through real performance experiences.

Our unique performance-based approach combines weekly private lessons with group band rehearsals, giving students the opportunity to apply what they learn by playing real songs with other musicians and performing live on stage.

As we like to say, "We don't teach music to put on shows. We put on shows to teach music."

What ages does School of Rock Halifax serve?

School of Rock Halifax offers programs for musicians of all ages and experience levels—from young children discovering music for the first time to adults who have always wanted to play in a band.

Our programs include:

Little Wing: Ages 4–5
Rookies: Ages 6–7
Rock 101: Ages 8–13
Performance Program: Ages 8–18
Adult Program: Ages 18+

Age is just one part of finding the right fit. Every student is unique, so we'll help place you or your child in the program that best matches their age, experience, confidence, and musical goals.

Whether you're picking up an instrument for the very first time or looking to take your playing to the next level, there's a place for you at School of Rock Halifax.

How often do students perform?

Live performance is at the heart of the School of Rock experience.

Our Rock 101 students take part in seasonal in-house performances, giving them the opportunity to showcase what they've learned in a fun, supportive environment.

Students in our Performance Program work toward three live shows each year, where they perform on stage as part of a real band in front of family, friends, and the community.

Performing isn't about being perfect—it's about building confidence, celebrating progress, and experiencing the excitement of making music with others. Every rehearsal and every performance helps students grow as musicians while developing skills that extend far beyond the stage.

Will my Child Make Friends?

We certainly hope so! Our approach is designed to help make it happen.

At School of Rock Halifax, students don't just take lessons—they become part of a band, work toward shared goals, and celebrate their successes together. Through weekly rehearsals, live performances, and encouragement from instructors and peers, students naturally build friendships and become part of a supportive musical community.

Is School of Rock for beginners?

School of Rock is perfect for beginning musicians and intermediate and advanced musicians, too. School of Rock works to develop each student's skills to be stage-ready for performance.

Does School of Rock teach music theory?

Yes, as part of the School of Rock Method, our SongFirst™ approach uses classic songs to teach technique and music theory. This method helps students remain excited about their music education and eager to practice.

How does School of Rock work?

School of Rock uses a patented performance-based music education method that builds musical proficiency through our proprietary Method Engine, Method App, Method Book collection, and SongFirst approach.
