Jack White - (REHEARSALS TuesdayS 6:00-7:30 PM)
Jack White rose to popularity during the 2000’s indie and grunge rock movement. Known for his distinctive techniques, and utilization of analog technology, Jack remains an innovative and influential musician to this day. After the breakup of the White Stripes he went on to form the bands The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather along with his solo band and other collaborations. This show will span across Jack's unique music career and provided the opportunity for students to take a deep dive into blues-rock, alternative-rock and experimental-rock composition.
Stone Temple Pilots - (REHEARSALS Tuesdays 7:30-9:00pm)
Stone Temple Pilots is considered one of the most fundamental bands in the rock and alternative-rock genre. With a huge catalogue of albums and songs to choose from, this is not the show to throw on a flannel and bash out some power chords. STP drew influences from bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and The Sex Pistols to name a few. Tracks like “ Lady Picture Show”, “Sour Girl” and “Vaseline” put these influences on full display. This is the perfect show to gain insight into alternative-rock songwriting and intricate arrangements that challenge the entire band!
Michael Jackson - (REHEARSALS WednesdayS 4:30-6:00PM)
Step into the spotlight and become part of a legendary tribute as School of Rock brings the magic of Michael Jackson to the stage. This show is your chance to unleash electrifying grooves, master iconic riffs, and perform the songs that shaped pop history. Whether you want to shred, lock in tight rhythms, or deliver dynamic vocals, this is your moment to shine. MJ's music ranges from soulful ballads to high‐voltage dance anthems. Students who join this show will be given the opportunity to explore MJ's music from his Motown roots to his immortal pop anthems.
Boston - (REHEARSALS WednesdayS 7:30-9:00PM)
Boston's self-titled album is one of the best-selling records of all time, and deservedly so. Nearly every song on Boston's debut album can still be heard on classic rock radio decades later, showcasing the strong vocals of Brad Delp and unique guitar sound of Tom Scholz. Tom Scholz, Boston's primary songwriter, was a studio wizard and used self-designed equipment such as 12-track recording devices to develop a true "arena rock" sound before the term was even coined. The timbre was hard rock, but the layered compositions, melodies and harmonics reveal the work of a master craftsman. Boston is essential for any fan of classic rock. Join us as School of Rock pays tribute to an iconic band whose self titled album marked the move from blues-based mainstream rock to the stadium shaking rock we all know and love.
Famous Covers - (REHEARSALS ThursdayS 6:00-7:30PM)
Have you ever heard a cover of a famous song that you thought was better than the original? Like Van Halen's covers of “You Really Got Me” or “Pretty Woman”? Or Jimi Hendrix's cover of "All Along The Watchtower? Or other artists who took even further creative liberties like Tori Amos‘s cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit“? Even Elvis Presley was known for taking songs that were originally slow and speeding them up like “Hound Dog”. The Famous Covers show is a great opportunity to learn the compositions of some of the most popular songs ever written... and how the famous artists who covered them made them their own.
Metallica - (REHEARSALS Thursdays 7:30-9:00PM)
Their name says it all. Metallica is quite possibly the biggest and most influential metal band of all time. Formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by singer/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, Metallica's fast tempos, exploratory instrumentals and aggressive playing style solidified them as one of the founding "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Upon emerging from the underground metal scene in the 80s, Metallica's combinations of punk-like tempos and heavy metal timbre created the foundations of thrash metal. After garnering support from indie releases and word of mouth in the underground scene, Metallica released their first major label debut in 1986. The album, Master of Puppets, became their breakthrough record and is considered one of the most influential metal albums of all time. In 1991, Metallica fully broke through to the mainstream and became the biggest rock band in the world with their self-titled record, often referred to as “The Black Album.” This record combined metal with pop sensibilities and led to radio hits like “Enter Sandman.” Metallica has released 11 studio albums and is still touring after 42 years. This show pays tribute to the underground sounds of thrash metal and their journey to mainstream and refined heavy metal still influencing musicians to this day.
