WHAT TO EXPECT
A typical day at camp involves games, activities, group rehearsal sessions and group/individual lessons on their instruments. The first day of camp doesn't involve as much instrumental time as the rest of the week as we spend the day listening to the songs and figuring out parts as a group. There is downtime and breaks during the camp so activities such as games, cards, books, etc. are great!
We recommend that students have some experience on their instruments, but it is not totally necessary. Drums would be the hardest instrument with absolutely no experience. If you drummer does not have some prior experience, we suggest they take a few lessons before the camp begins. Ask us about lesson packs to get your student up to speed!

SUMMER CAMP FAQs
Q: Is there a performance at the end of camp?
A: YES! On the last day of camp (Friday) we will have a "parking lot" concert performance at 5:30pm at the school! Campers will need to be back at the school by 5:15pm on Friday. You can invite as many friends and family to come and enjoy the concert! Don't forget to bring your favorite camping chair!
Q: Does my child need to bring their own instrument?
A: Keyboards, drums, and amps are provided. Guitar & Bass players should bring their own instruments, picks & straps. Drummers should bring their own sticks. Vocalists may bring their own mics to help prevent the spread of germs, but we regularly clean the mics as well.
Q: Does my child need to bring their own lunch and snacks?
A: Yes. Please send your camper with lunch, plenty of snacks, and a refillable water bottle each day. The lunch break will be around noon. If you're coming back to drop lunch off, please do so at 12pm. We have experienced some "hanger" in the past and it makes it difficult to learn music if we go too late without lunch! We do have limited fridge space if needed and a microwave. Every camper should bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated!
Q: What NOT to bring to camp?
A: Campers should not bring any toys, dolls, gaming devices, electronics, etc.
Please leave phones, gaming devices, and other electronics at home. In case of an emergency, you can email or call us at the school. We want the campers to connect and socialize with each other and not be on devices during their breaks or in the rehearsal room when they are learning and playing songs. It really does make a difference in their overall camp experience, if they can take a break from devices and be present with their fellow campers!
*We do not take responsibility for any broken or lost items*
Q: What are your drop-off and pick-up policies?
A: Please drop-off between 8:55 and 9:00am (students will be allowed inside starting at 8:55am). Pick-up at 2:00pm SHARP please.
Q: Can I send treats to share with the other campers?
A: This is a nice idea, but we want to avoid contact with any allergies or possible airborne allergens.
Q: What does an average day of camp look like? Do they play music ALL day long?
A: A typical day at camp involves games, activities, group rehearsal sessions and group / individual lessons on their instruments. The first day of camp doesn't involve as much instrument time as the rest of the week as we spend the day listening to the songs and figuring out parts as a group. There is downtime and breaks during the camp, so activities such as games, cards, books, etc. are great!
Q: Do the students need to have any musical experience or will you teach them at camp?
A: We recommend that students have some experience on their instruments, but it is not necessary. Drums would be the hardest instrument with absolutely no experience. If your drummer does not have some prior experience, we suggest they take a few lessons before the camp begins. Ask us about lesson packs to get your student up to speed!
Q: Who are the Instructors/Staff?
A: Our instructors are real working, professional musicians. Every instructor has cleared a background check and is trained to work with students in the appropriate age range for camps. Most of our camp instructors also teach at school with our regular on-going programs.
Q: What happens if we cannot make it to camp one/multiple day(s)?
A: We have limited space in our camps and wait lists for some. We ask that your child attends all 5-days of camp as they are part of a team. There are no partial refunds due to days missed. Because they are learning songs as a band, its critical that they are all present to rehearse for the Friday concert.
