camp description
We're turning over the playlist to the people and in a true act of civic (or rock and roll) duty, students will choose from a pre-selected ballot of songs from Wednesday, October 28th to Friday, October 30th to determine their setlist. Monday morning, we'll jump into casting and rehearsing our set. While we're remaining apolitical for our November Election Day, we're here to celebrate DEMOCRAZY (typo intended) and see if our students can meet the challenge of building a show in one day!
Note that Monday, November 2nd is a Teacher In-service Day with Katy ISD so a Day Camp with School of Rock Katy is the PERFECT way to keep your rockstars busy while their school is closed!
weekly schedule
- Camp runs from 9am - 3pm on Monday, November 2nd
- The day consists of rehearsals, practice time and an afternoon show for parents, friends and family
- At 3pm, campers will play and perform the songs they’ve been working on throughout the day in our new onsite venue, The Garage, at School of Rock Katy!
what to expect
Students can expect an exciting and educational day of learning music taught by our talented camp instructors. Students will be asked to bring lunch, snacks, water, and hearing protection.
At School of Rock, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. To help us maintain this space, we ask parents to avoid packing any nut products in lunches or snacks. We also prohibit any toy or real weapons from being brought to camp.
All New Venue for our Camp Shows
With the completion of our renovation, we're proud to open our in-school venue The Garage. We'll be tossing up the garage door to open up our stage area for friends and family to attend onsite at School of Rock Katy. After all, we don't teach music to put on shows, but we put on shows to teach music! Here's the show details:
- Parents should arrive to School of Rock Katy by 2:45pm where we'll escort you to the venue in the back of school.
- Show starts promptly at 3pm.
- All ages, no cover, family friendly and open to the public!
- Sign up for our program at the end of the show and keep rocking out with us year round!

A: Keyboards are provided. Provided Guitar & Basses are limited, players are encouraged to bring their own instruments, picks & straps. Drummers must bring their own sticks (drums are provided).
Q: DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH AND SNACKS?
A: Each student should bring a water bottle and a packed lunch.
Q: CAN I SEND TREATS TO SHARE WITH THE OTHER CAMPERS?
A: This is a nice idea, but we want to avoid contact with any allergies or possible airborne allergens.

Q: WHAT AGES OF STUDENTS ATTEND CAMP? WILL THERE BE SOMEONE CLOSE TO MY CHILD’S AGE?
A: This day camp is for students 8-18 years old. We believe that students should gain experience learning and interacting with students of different ages, backgrounds and abilities. We tend to always have a few students in each age bracket, but each camp is different.
Q: WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS/STAFF?
A: Our instructors are real working, professional musicians. Every instructor has cleared a background check and is trained to work with students in the appropriate age range for each camp. We also maintain a 6:1 student-to-staff ratio during each day of camp.
