The FALL SEASON starts enrolling in AUGUST through the end of NOVEMBER with rehearsals starting in SEPTEMBER. Show is planned for the weekend of Feb 6th/Feb 7th (please reserve Saturday and Sunday). Season Preview Shows will be before Halloween and on the 1st weekend of December.
MONDAYS: SINGER-SONGWRITERS // 5:30 - 7:30PM
A singer-songwriter is a musician who composes, writes the lyrics, and performs their own vocal compositions. Often associated with acoustic instruments and intimate, confessional storytelling, this tradition bridges folk roots with modern pop, rock, and country, giving artists complete creative control over their musical narrative. Famous singer-songrwiters include iconic artists lilke Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springstein. Taylor Swift, Paul Simon, Carole King, Prince, Dolly Parton, Jimmy Buffet, and Joni Mitchell.

TUESDAYS: CBGB OF NYC // 4:30 - 6:30PM
CBGB (standing for Country, Bluegrass, Blues and Other Music for Uplifting Gourmandizers) was a legendary New York City music club located at 315 Bowery in Manhattan. Founded in 1973 by Hilly Kristal, it served as the birthplace of American punk rock and new wave, launching the careers of iconic acts. CBGB soon emerged as a famed and iconic venue for the Ramones, Dead Boys, Television, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Patti Smith Group, Blondie, The B-52's, The Police, Beastie Boys, Hole, and Talking Heads.

WEDNESDAYS: QUEEN TRIBUTE // 6 - 8PM
Queen formed in London, England, in 1970, a time when heavy Rock and Roll was reaching mainstream audiences and record companies were looking everywhere for the “Next Big Thing”. The band achieved global success in no small part due to the charisma and supernatural talent of lead singer/keyboard player Freddie Mercury. The band also featured Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (bass) - all virtuosos on their respective instruments. Queen is known as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time who also pushed artistic boundaries, a unique and enviable combination in the music industry.

THURSDAYS: SONGWRITING CLASS // 5 - 6:30PM
Creating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for musicians. School of Rock’s Songwriting Program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting and arranging, as students compose original works. Rehearsal time for the first half of the season consists of engaging songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops, where students learn to create ideas and overcome writer’s block with techniques that professionals rely on. As each student builds on their original song idea, the group begins arranging the songs for a full band, with each student serving as accompaniment to the other students, helping each other realize their vision. The season culminates in a live performance of all the original songs.

FRIDAYS: ALT METAL // 5 - 7PM
Alternative metal (or alt-metal) is a heavy metal subgenre that blends traditional metal with alternative rock elements. Emerging in the late 1980s and booming in the 1990s, it is known for unconventional structures, downtuned, mid-paced guitar riffs, and a mix of melodic and harsh vocals, avoiding the flashy technicality of traditional metal. Alternative metal originated not as a unified movement, but as a diverse collection of bands incorporating heavy metal with hardcore punk, noise rock, grunge, industrial, and progressive rock. Band showcased in this program can include but is not limited to bands such as Faith No More, Alice in Chains, Helmut, Korn, System of a Down, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and Evanescence.

SATURDAYS: THE PROG SHOW // 3 - 5PM
The Prog Show is one of the most challenging School of Rock shows. The term “Prog Rock” can often be interchangeable or associated with “Art Rock”, “Symphonic Rock”, “Progressive Rock”, or “Classical Rock”. In the mid 60s, artists began to use the term “progressive” to describe how their music progressed beyond the standard Pop music formulas that the music industry called for at the time. By abandoning typical Pop traditions and incorporating new instrumentation and compositional techniques, the “Prog” genre, albeit broad, became more defined by the late 60s. Artists began producing longer albums that featured extended solos, higher instrumental skill, fantasy-like lyrical content, and unique instrumentation. Band showcased in this program can inlcude but is not limited to bands such as YES, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Rush, Queensryche, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull.

SUNDAYS: BEST OF THE 80's // 3 - 5PM
In the Best of the '80s show, School of Rock will travel back in time to an era of fluorescent clothes, poofy hair, and the best synth-driven pop anthems you will ever hear. On August 1, 1981, music fans were catapulted into the '80s music era by the debut of a cultural phenomenon: MTV. This new music format - the music video - gave old and new artists alike the chance to reach unimaginable numbers of diverse audiences and sell millions of records and cassette tapes. The '80s would not have had its soundtrack without Michael Jackson. Jackson began the '80s on a sonic high that carried over from 1979’s “Off the Wall”, but he struck gold with the worldwide phenomenon that was Thriller. Also making a huge impact on the '80s were super-star Pop acts like Madonna, Prince, and all-girl band The Bangles. Synth-driven music became massively popular, with artists like Eurythmics, Flock of Seagulls, and The Cars becoming stars. Although Pop acts reigned supreme in the '80s, Rock bands like Guns N’ Roses, Journey, Bon Jovi, and Living Colour reaped the benefits of the ‘decade of excess’. The Best of the '80s show will feature a diverse mix of styles and artists, and is a challenging and fun experience for students of any instrument or experience level.
