8TH ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL: TWO DAYS OF LIVE STUDENT ROCK AT NOLA BREWING & PIZZA CO.

Two days. One stage. Full volume. For the eighth year running, School of Rock Metairie / New Orleans is taking over NOLA Brewing & Pizza Co. for a full weekend of live music — nine shows across Saturday and Sunday, spanning pop, grunge, alt, emo and jam. Every note of it is played by our students.

This season's lineup hits Michael Jackson, The Seattle Sound, Alt Nation, Boy Bands vs. Girl Bands, Jam Bands, Women in Rock, Songwriting, Panic! At The Disco vs. Fall Out Boy, and Audioslave vs. Rage Against The Machine. Each of those is a full show, learned from the ground up over the course of the season — our students pick apart the records, rehearse the parts in a band with their bandmates every week at the school, and then walk out and play the whole thing live.

These aren't recitals. These are real bands, on a real stage, in a real venue, in front of a real crowd — because that's how musicians actually get made. School of Rock Metairie / New Orleans is an extracurricular, performance-based music school for ages 4 through adult, teaching guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals the way music is meant to be learned: loud, together, and headed for a stage. Watching students play live is the whole culture of this place, here in New Orleans and at School of Rock stages around the world, and it's where the next generation of players comes from.
