HOUSE BAND GIG – ST. EDWARD COCHON DE LAIT

In South Louisiana, a cochon de lait means a pig roast, a big crowd and a reason to stay out all afternoon. St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Metairie bills theirs as the largest Cochon de Lait in South Louisiana, and this year the School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans House Band is bringing the soundtrack. On Saturday, October 17, our student rock band plugs in at 2:30 PM for about 1 hour of loud, live music at this free family event.

Never been to a School of Rock show? Here's what you're walking into: every musician on that stage is one of our students. The House Band is made up of kids and teens who have been working on these songs all season at the school, learning their parts, rehearsing together and tightening the set until it hits like a real band, because it is one. Guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals, all played live.

School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans is an extracurricular, performance-based music school offering programs for students ages 4 through adult. Our students don't just take music lessons in Metairie and practice alone in a room. They learn by playing in bands and performing on real stages in front of real crowds, which is exactly what makes us a different kind of kids music school.

This is the future of music. Live student performance keeps the culture alive, here in the New Orleans area where music is part of everyday life, and in cities around the world where School of Rock students are plugging in and playing for their communities too. Bring the whole crew to St. Edward and come see the show. Then book a free trial lesson on our website and find out what it feels like to be the one on that stage.
