At School of Rock Naples, we don't teach music to put on shows - we put on shows to teach music. Students are assigned songs selected to develop them as musicians, and work on them in private lessons with their instructors, as well as in weekly rehearsals with groups made up of their peers. The season culminates with a performance at our seasonal showcase, where they can show you everything they've been working on throughout the season!

LITTLE WING
AGES 4-5 | MEETS MONDAYS 3:15 - 4:00 PM, TUESDAYS 5:00 - 5:45 PM, SATURDAYS 10:00 - 10:45 AM
Little Wing is School of Rock's music program designed for our youngest students (mainly 4- to 5-year-olds). This music program for toddlers and preschoolers features a special curriculum where students play games and participate in other interactive activities to help them internalize the foundational skills they will use as their musical abilities grow. These music classes for kids are the perfect start to a lifelong love of music. Little Wing students have one weekly group lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody, and dynamics through play.
ROOKIES
AGES 6-7| MEETS MONDAYS 4:00 - 5:00PM, TUESDAYS 4:00-5:00, SATURDAYS 1:15 – 2:15PM
Rookies is the next step for young students who are ready to start exploring music in a fun, hands-on group setting. Designed for kids around ages 6–7 with little to no previous musical experience, this program introduces students to the basics of music while letting them try out different rock instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, keys, and vocals.
In Rookies, students learn important musical foundations like rhythm, melody, chords, song structure, listening skills, and playing together as a group. The focus is on keeping music fun, building confidence, and helping each student discover which instrument they may want to continue with as they grow.
Rookies is a great bridge between Little Wing and Rock 101. It gives young musicians a supportive place to build basic skills, develop a love for music, and get comfortable being part of the School of Rock experience before moving into a more structured band program.
School of Rock describes Rookies as a program for ages 6–7 with no previous musical experience, featuring weekly group music lessons focused on fundamentals like chords, rhythm, and song structure.
ROCK 101
AGES 8-12| MEETS mONDAYS 5:00 - 6:30, WEDNESDAYS 5:00 - 6:30PM, THURSDAYS 5:00 - 6:30 PM, SATURDAY 11:45-1:15PM
Rock 101 is the perfect starting point for young musicians who are ready to take the stage. Designed for beginner students, this program combines weekly private lessons with group band rehearsals, giving kids the chance to learn their instrument while also experiencing what it feels like to play music with others.
Students work on the fundamentals of guitar, bass, drums, keys, or vocals while learning simplified versions of classic rock songs in a fun, supportive environment. Along the way, they build confidence, timing, teamwork, listening skills, stage presence, and the foundation they need to grow as musicians.
Rock 101 is more than just music lessons — it is where students begin learning how to be part of a real band. As they progress, students gain the skills and confidence needed to move into our Performance Program and continue their journey on stage.
School of Rock describes Rock 101 as a beginner program for ages 8–13 that includes weekly lessons and group rehearsals focused on fundamentals, music theory, and learning to play in a group.
BEST OF THE 2000’S
AGES 8-18 | MEETS MONDAYS 6:30 - 8:30 PM
The 2000s were a decade where rock, pop-punk, alternative, emo, indie, hip-hop, and hard rock all collided — creating a sound that was impossible to place into just one category. School of Rock’s Best of the 2000s show celebrates that variety, giving students the chance to perform music from one of the most diverse and exciting eras in modern music.
This show may include artists like Linkin Park, Chevelle, Paramore, The Strokes, OutKast, and many more. Students will explore everything from heavy riffs and driving drums to melodic hooks, energetic vocals, genre-blending grooves, and songs that defined an entire generation.
Best of the 2000s is a great show for students of different ages, instruments, and experience levels because the music covers so many styles. It gives guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, and vocalists plenty of opportunities to grow, while also learning what made 2000s music so unique: big choruses, emotional performances, creative arrangements, and bands that were not afraid to mix influences.
From alternative rock and pop-punk to indie rock and hip-hop-inspired sounds, this show is all about celebrating the music that shaped the early 21st century — and giving our students the chance to bring those songs to life on stage.
BLACK KEYS VS THE WHITE STRIPES
AGES 8-18 | MEETS TUESDAYS 5:00 - 7:00 PM
The Black Keys vs. The White Stripes celebrates two of the biggest garage rock/blues rock bands of the 2000s. Both bands helped bring raw, stripped-down rock back into the spotlight, proving that you do not need a huge lineup to make a huge impact.
In this show, students will dig into the gritty guitar tones, driving drum grooves, blues-inspired riffs, and high-energy performances that made both bands stand out. From the raw, chaotic edge of The White Stripes to the swampy, soulful rock sound of The Black Keys, this show gives students a chance to explore dynamics, feel, groove, and attitude.
This is a great show for guitarists, drummers, bassists, keyboard players, and vocalists who want to work on strong rhythm, stage presence, and playing with confidence. Students will learn how simple parts can become powerful when played with the right energy, tone, and intention.

MICHAEL JACKSON VS PRINCE
AGES 8-18 | MEETS WEDNESDAYS 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Michael Jackson vs. Prince celebrates the music of two of the most influential artists in pop, funk, soul, R&B, and rock history. Both artists changed the sound, style, and performance of modern music, inspiring generations of musicians with their creativity, musicianship, showmanship, and unforgettable songs.
In this show, students will explore the grooves, vocals, rhythms, melodies, and stage presence that made Michael Jackson and Prince true legends. From dance-driven pop and funk to soulful ballads, rock-inspired guitar moments, and massive sing-along hits, this show gives students a chance to perform music that is energetic, challenging, and instantly recognizable.
This is a great show for vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, and performers who want to work on rhythm, dynamics, confidence, and stage presence. Students will learn how to bring personality, feel, and precision to songs that helped define decades of popular music.

GRUNGE
AGES 8-18| MEETS THURSDAYS 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Our Grunge show dives into the raw, loud, and emotional sound that helped define the 1990s. This show brings together the heavy guitars, honest lyrics, big choruses, and stripped-down attitude that made grunge and alternative rock such an important era in music.
Students may perform songs from bands like Weezer, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains, Hole, Rage Against the Machine, The Smashing Pumpkins, and more. The set will cover everything from gritty guitar-driven rock and heavy grooves to melodic alternative anthems and powerful vocal moments.
This is a great show for guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, and vocalists who want to work on dynamics, tone, energy, and emotion. Students will learn how to play with power and restraint, lock in as a band, and bring real feeling to the songs they perform.
Our Grunge show is all about big riffs, raw emotion, loud drums, and the kind of music that still hits hard decades later.

Arena Rock celebrates the massive sound, unforgettable guitar riffs, and sing-along choruses that filled stadiums throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and beyond. Students will explore music from legendary artists such as Journey, Queen, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Boston, Heart, and more. This show gives performers the opportunity to develop powerful vocals, confident stage presence, strong musicianship, and the ability to work together as a polished live band. With soaring melodies, iconic solos, and larger-than-life energy, Arena Rock is built for students who want to put on a true rock show.
Pop Punk & Emo
AGES 8-18 | MEETS TUESDAYS 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Pop Punk & Emo celebrates the catchy melodies, emotional lyrics, fast-paced rhythms, and high-energy performances that defined the genre from the 1990s through today. Students will perform music from bands such as Green Day, Blink-182, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, and more. This show combines the fun and rebellious energy of pop punk with the more emotional and dramatic side of emo. Students will work on energetic stage presence, strong vocal delivery, tight rhythm playing, and connecting with the meaning behind each song. With huge choruses, memorable hooks, and plenty of attitude, this show is perfect for performers who want to bring excitement and emotion to the stage.
Motown
AGES 8-18 | MEETS WEDNESDAYS 6:30 – 8:30 PM
The Motown show celebrates the timeless music that helped shape popular music and influenced generations of artists. Students will perform songs made famous by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, and more. Motown music combines soulful vocals, memorable melodies, tight harmonies, energetic rhythms, and irresistible grooves. This show will challenge students to focus on timing, feel, vocal performance, musicianship, and working together as a tight ensemble. It is an exciting and upbeat show filled with classic songs that audiences of all ages will recognize and enjoy.
Southern Rock
AGES 8-18| MEETS THURSDAYS 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Southern Rock brings together the power of rock and roll with the soul of blues, country, and American roots music. Students will explore songs from legendary artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, ZZ Top, The Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, and more. This show features driving rhythms, expressive vocals, blues-inspired guitar solos, rich harmonies, and plenty of opportunities for students to develop their improvisational skills. With its combination of powerful musicianship, memorable storytelling, and raw live energy, Southern Rock is an excellent choice for students who enjoy guitar-driven music and want to deliver a strong, authentic performance.

A NOTE ABOUT SHOW CASTING
We strive for well-balanced shows where all of our students are challenged and get equal opportunity for parts. Please understand that factors such as attendance at rehearsals, behavior at rehearsals, and musical preparation for rehearsals can affect the number of songs a student is assigned. The School of Rock method is merit based. While a show’s first casting is as equitable as possible, in subsequent castings we reward commitment, hard work, and steady improvement.
We know many students have talents beyond the instruments they study at School of Rock. We do our best to encourage (and show off) all of our students’ abilities! However, students who take lessons on an instrument at School of Rock get priority casting on that instrument in shows. Students are guaranteed to be assigned parts only on instruments they are actively taking lessons on at SoR. Depending on the makeup of the show’s cast, we may not be able to accommodate students who wish to perform on an instrument (including vocals) that they do not study at SoR. If your student is interested in studying an additional instrument, please reach out to us to discuss options.
