Wyatt King (they/them)
Music Director
Wyatt is a drum and rehearsal instructor at School of Rock Winnipeg. Wyatt has also taken on the role of co-music director. They are currently pursuing their bachelor's degree in Classical Percussion Performance. Other than drumming, they also like harsh vocals/screaming.
Some of Wyatt's favourite musical genres include Metal, Hardcore, and Screamo. Their favourite artists include Lingua Ignota, MouthBreather, the Callous Daoboys, Admiral Angry, KEN mode, Frail Body, Perfume Genius, and Parliament Owls.
Other than music, they like biking, rollerblading, and moshing. Wyatt’s most notable musical gig so far has been at Manitoba Metalfest at the Park Theatre.
Carlos Pau (he/him)
Guitar Teacher
Carlos is a guitar teacher at School of Rock Winnipeg with over five years of experience. He attended the River Heights School of Music to advance his skills and not only aims to teach a musical instrument to his students but hopes to inspire them and help them become confident and capable musicians.
When Carlos is not working on his music, you can find him enjoying professional wrestling and stand-up comedy. He is also currently attending the University of Manitoba pursuing Law.
Carlos’ favourite bands consist of Rammstein, Billy Talent, and Trivium. Some of his most notable musical experiences are with his band, Knife the Curious. They played at the Park Theatre opening for the band Wake, and at the Rec Room opening for Knoll.
Danielle Yackel (she/her)
Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Danielle is a former School of Rock student. Danielle was a keyboard student for just over three years and in that time she never took a season off.
She has been a 2x House Band Member and also made AllStars during a pandemic. She went on the Western Canada House Band tour while also rocking performances at FringeFest, Rockin the Fields, Countryfest, WPG ICE Playoff Games, and Hi Neighbour Festival.
Other than music, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and watching movies.
Kaitlyn Childs (she/her)
Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher
Kaitlyn is a former School of Rock student with a focus on drums. She now teaches a variety of instruments as well as Rookies and Rock 101.
Kaitlyn is currently attending the Université de Saint-Boniface. She is finishing an arts degree, with hopes to go into the faculty of education. Her dream is to be a high school science teacher.
Her favorite genre is rock, with Rise Against being one of her top favourite bands.
Kaitlyn is on the drum line for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers!
Dani McDonald (she/they)
Singing Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Dani is a talented multi-instrumentalist with years of experience. Dani can play the guitar, voice, keys, bass, as well as the harp. Some of her favourite artists include Heavenly, The Cure, Hole, and Electrocute.
When Dani is not rocking out on stage with her band, Poodle Paddle, at a house show or a festival, you can find her pursuing a philosophy degree. She also has TA experience in the field and hopes to obtain a master's degree. Dani loves to cook, draw, and paint.
Demetrios Karvelas (he/him)
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Demetrios has been a guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Winnipeg for five years, and has also taught rehearsals in that time as well. He is currently at the University of Manitoba in the Faculty of Education, hoping to teach Early Years.
Demetrios' favourite musical genres include Power Metal, Alt Metal, and J-rock. His favourite artists include Mastodon, THE ORAL CIGARETTES, and Polyphia.
He has a passion for learning and teaching Greek Dance. He has been performing at Folklorama for years!
Bug Johnson (they/them)
Studio Coordinator
Bug is the Studio Coordinator at School of Rock Winnipeg. You can find them at the front desk or running around the school keeping everyone on track. Their goal is to work in community development and youth outreach.
Bug has about a decade of music lessons under their belt and is currently focusing on the bass. They enjoy listening to Beastie Boys, Arctic Monkeys, and My Chemical Romance. Bug also loves plants, painting and bad reality tv.
Freja Haight (she/her)
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Freja is a former School of Rock Winnipeg student with a focus on the guitar and bass. She now teaches these instruments as well as Rookies and Rock 101. She is currently in university in the Faculty of Architecture.
Some of Freja's favourite artists are The Clash, The Pixies, Arctic Monkeys, Cake, and Silk Sonic. She loves design, architecture, fashion, and art.
Other than playing with multiple Performance Program groups, Freja has also ventured out with a couple of local bands and has performed a few different spots including Harvest Moon.
Glenn Radley (he/him)
Drum Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Singing Teacher
Glenn is a multi-instrumentalist with a degree in Jazz Studies with a focus on drums from the University of Manitoba. He has been teaching for a decade in a number of capacities, privately and in studios. On top of teaching and his own personal projects, he is a very talented songwriter for his band, Gladly!
Glenn digs the poppy parts of grunge and the grungey parts of pop. He enjoys Courtney Barnett, Father John Misty, Harry Nilsson, Queen, MCR, and Margaret Glaspy.
Glenn has toured all over North America in five bands over eight years. He has been coast to coast from Victoria to Charlottetown and 35 American states. Highlights include headlining slots at Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Kispiox Valley music festival in BC, and Feels Good Follyfest in Gagetown New Brunswick.
Sarah Critchley (she/her)
Little Wing and Rookies Teacher
Sarah is a young adult with big dreams. She is currently looking to enroll in the Desaultels Faculty of Music at U of M and eventually find her place in the musical theatre scene. Sarah's main focus is voice, but she likes to try different instruments and expand her skill set. Her proudest and most notable musical moment so far was playing Ariel in her high school’s production of The Little Mermaid at The Burton Cummings Theatre
Her favourite musical genres include Classic Rock, Country, Folk, Musical Soundtracks, and Christmas music.
When she isn’t singing, she is paying too much for chai lattes, embroidering, painting, drawing, building Lego, and owning too many lava lamps (so far the total is 4).
Fred Warner (he/him)
Bass Guitar Teacher
Fred has taught various instruments around Winnipeg for over a decade. He is currently in school, working towards his master's degree in Jazz Bass Performance. Fred not only plays bass but also trumpet and violin. Fred enjoys Jazz Fusion, Pat Metheny, and Snarky Puppy.
Aside from music, Fred enjoys watching cooking shows with his partner and cat, as well as playing RPG video games and reading fantasy books! Fred is a touring musician with the psych-rock band Apollo Suns. They have played at several festivals around Canada. Fred also opened for Five Alarm Funk with his own band, Freddy and the Fire Nation, which was definitely a highlight!
Aaron Bacon (he/him)
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Aaron is a bass, guitar, drum, and ukulele teacher. He has been teaching for nearly a decade and has been performing for 18 years. One of his biggest gigs has been opening up for Unleash the Archers, Propaghandi, Ninjaspy, 3 showcases at CMW in Toronto, and the CN stage at the Forks for Addiction Support Day in 2019. He has also live-streamed with Dizzy Mystics on Red Tie Live.
Aaron loves a lot of different genres and bands, some including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, NERVE, and Tame Impala.
Other than music, Aaron likes meditation, yard/plant/garden work and bonsai, video games, movies, and art.
David Moncayo (he/him)
Drum Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
David is a guitar and drum instructor at School of Rock Winnipeg. He has been teaching since 2019 and is always trying to inspire students and encourage them to dive into music so they can enrich their lives through the endless benefits of music. David loves alternative and indie rock, such as Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Cage the Elephant, and Incubus, as well as the classics like Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. He enjoys sports, such as soccer, mixed martial arts, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
One of David’s most notable musical experiences is when he played guitar for the international artist Helian Evans in Ibarra, Ecuador. It was an amazing experience and he learned a lot about stage performance and engaging with an audience.
Andrew Boris (he/him)
Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Singing Teacher
Andrew is one of our multi-instrumentalist instructors. He is the drummer for local band, Graffiti Parks. Andrew took piano and guitar lessons as a kid and has recently started teaching.
Andrew is into Indie, Psychedelic, and Art Rock. He likes bands such as Radiohead, Tame Impala, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and The Beatles. He is also a big rap fan. He enjoys Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, and Tyler, the Creator.
Outside of music, Andrew enjoys working out (currently training for a half-marathon) and reading, with The Lord of the Rings being his all-time favourite novel.
Rosie Gripton (she/her)
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Rosie is a guitar teacher and bass guitar teacher at School of Rock Winnipeg. She has been happily teaching instruments in the guitar family for over six years now. She is currently working on her Classical Guitar Performance Associate Diploma with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Rosie enjoys almost all genres of music. "Real Big Sky" by Emma Ruth Rundle is currently her favourite song. She also enjoys reading, the outdoors, and traveling.
Rosie's most notable moment is when she managed to string together a 30-date tour of Canada a couple of years ago with her band, Towanda, including at least one gig in BC at a skate shop where the entire band slept in a half pipe after the show.
Chris Woytyshyn (he/him)
Guitar Teacher
Chris is a guitar (classical, acoustic, and electric) and bass guitar teacher. He is currently a first-year music student in the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba obtaining a Music Education Degree.
Chris has eight years of private teaching experience. He enjoys hard rock, classical, pop, jazz, funk, and hip-hop. Some notable gigs include playing with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra as part of a small ensemble and opening up for Anna Pietrzak for the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society.
Chris has also won the Len Hew Classical Guitar Trophy at the Winnipeg Music Festival.
Other than music, Chris enjoys playing and watching hockey and golf. He likes camping and hanging out with family and friends.
