Next stop is Lollapalooza for two Hinsdale teens who will perform at the acclaimed musical festival in Chicago.

Meghan Callahan, 18, and Paden Guido, 17, were both recently chosen to go on the road performing at local clubs for a week until they end up at Lollapalooza, where they will perform amid the likes of such renowned performers as Eminem, Lorde and Arctic Monkeys.

The women were selected to be part of the 2014 School of Rock AllStar tour. In addition to performing at Lollapalooza in Grant Park Aug. 1-3, they will spend the week on a bus and take the stage at such well-known Chicago venues as Schuba's Tavern and Beat Kitchen.

Callahan, who just graduated from Benet Academy in Lisle, has attended Lollapalooza the past two years but only dreamed she would ever perform there.

"It's definitely intimidating to think of playing there, but I can't wait for the experience," she said.

Anne Dills, who co-owns the School of Rock locations in Hinsdale, Elmhurst andNaperville, said it's not easy to be chosen for the tour, which also has different versions in other areas of the country.

"It's incredibly competitive. There are two rounds of auditions at each school," she said.

Dills said 150 students nationwide are chosen to take part in the tours from more than 14,000 students enrolled in the School of Rock system.

She said students who perform on the tour build confidence as performers.

"Our students come back from tour even more inspired to practice and improve so they can continue to play on world class stages in front of big audiences," Dills said.
