School Of Rock's Littlewing Program Starts In Ken-Caryl Ranch

The School of Rock recently launched its Little Wing program — group music classes for children ages 2-3 or 3-5. The business's Littleton location, 5950 S. Platte Canyon Road, recently started holding some of its classes at the Ken-Caryl Ranch House, 7676 S. Continental Divide Road.

"It's going really well. It's growing like crazy," Little Wing director Vicky Morris said.

The 2-to-3-year-olds learn about guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboard during their sessions and have the opportunity to try them out and dance around to some fun music.

On March 13, kids in Ken-Caryl got to strum a guitar, dance to "Shout" by the Isley Brothers, play claves along with The Who's "Magic Bus" and learn what happens when you stick a tuning fork in water (it's vibrating so it splashes the water).

Parents play along with their children in the younger class and Kelli Stewart brought her daughter, Kayla, 2, for the first time.

"It's really important to expose (children) to music. Especially if they show interest in it," Stewart said.
