Carlson's time at School of Rock helped her recruit most of her current bandmates. It spurred her to apply to Berklee which, unlike other colleges that offer music majors geared mainly toward classical and jazz, offered the opportunity to train as a well-rounded musician.
Programs
Do you want to learn to play an instrument or play in a band with other musicians? Do you want to learn to write your own music or do you have your own band which needs coaching from a professional who has done what you want to do? Whatever your musical goal, St. Paul School of Rock has a program for you.
We offer multiple options for enrollment. Our Performance Program includes a weekly 45 minute private lesson, a weekly group rehearsal that culminates in an end of season concert, access to our facility for practice, and an open invitation to our weekly workshops. Cost for our Performance Program starts at $299.00 per month. Rock 101 is a program perfect for the beginning rocker, wanting to learn how to play in a band. We teach band communication, how to play through a song with a full group, and performance. Once certain criteria is met, these students "graduate" into our performance program. At the end of each term, Rock 101 performs as the opening act to one of our season shows. Cost for Rock 101 is $299.00 per month
We also offer extra weekly lessons, additional show rehearsals, and an exciting new program called Epic Albums. In the Epic Album program, students form a small group (7-14 musicians) and learn, rehearse, perform, and then record an "Epic Album". This program is an extra $89.00 per month for students enrolled in Performance or Lessons+.
For the more seasoned musicians in our school, SOR Studio is a way to learn about songwriting and recording with their fellow students. In a term, students will learn about songwriting theory, recording techniques and then work their songs out with a group to record at the end of each month. SOR Studio is an extra $150.00 per month for Performance or Lessons+ students.
