Guitar Teacher Slava
Slava
Guitar Teacher
Slava has been playing guitar since he first laid his hands on one at the age of 9. He became enamored with the instrument and the incredible potential for diversity in terms of genre. Although he’s definitely a rocker at heart, one of the first songs he learned on guitar was an old Russian folk song his father somehow remembered how to play and passed on to me.

A couple of years later and he was enrolled in the School of Rock Waldwick. While he mainly stuck with his rock roots, he always made sure to explore other genres such as jazz, metal, pop, blues, as well as folk. His wonderful instructors always inspired him to push his own boundaries.

Towards the end of high school, Slava was asked to join his first metal band with which he played in for four years and shared the stage with some of his favorite acts like Lorna Shore and Traitors. Soon he decided to pursue other avenues in his music career, writing and recording a pop EP with an independent singer.

Throughout these years Slava also had the pleasure of working with other artists as a stand-in guitarist as well as ghost-writer. Some other notable musical accomplishments came in college where Slava composed for a string quartet and met with a professional ensemble to play it the composition.

Graduating from Ramapo College with a degree in Music Production, Slava actually shifted focus to teaching as he was inspired to follow in those footsteps by his former teachers and professors. He has been teaching guitar lessons for several years privately as well as for independent music schools.

“I am excited to be a part of the same school that I once found a huge sense of community and belonging in. Now I am able to give back to School of Rock for allowing my inner creativity and talent to grow and thrive. In a completely supportive and encouraging environment I am passing on my knowledge to younger students and encouraging the same kind of growth.”

Reviews

The staff genuinely care.

Staff put their heart and soul into continually creating better and better programs for our kids. They genuinely care for our children and see them as individuals each with their own talent.

There's so much positive reinforcement!

The instructors are my favorite part. They dish out positive reinforcement like candy on Halloween. You can really tell that they love music and are really interested in sharing their knowledge.

I've learned so much in six weeks!

The adult program is a great way for an adult who is learning to play, but maybe not ready to be in an independent band, to connect with others looking for a group to play with and learn together. There's a real learning piece to it.

Love the staff members.

They are polite, accommodating and are always willing to work with you!
