Spring 2023 Programs Now Enrolling!

School of Rock Ridgefield is excited to announce our Spring 2023 Performance Programs! We will be offering FIVE different Performance Programs this season! Each Performance Program has a different theme and rehearses on a different day, so you have a choice on which program is best for you. 

Our signature Performance Program is for students ages 9-18 y/o. The program is designed to get students playing together in a fun, interactive environment. The program includes a weekly 45-minute private lesson and a weekly 3-hour band rehearsal.

With this form you can choose your rehearsal day option, as well as provide us with more information to better your SOR experience. Once you fill out the form we will confirm your student's enrollment with an e-mail.

Yacht Rock

Rehearses on Mondays from 5:00-8:00PM starting 2/20

Discover the world of jazz-rock, fusion, aviator sunglasses, mustaches, and feathered hair this Spring with the soft rock Yacht Rock hits that ruled the radio airwaves between 1975 and 1984. Excellent recordings of excellent musicians playing excellent songs sung by excellent singers. Easy to listen to, but hard to play.  Bands on the list include Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, and many more! Join this show for a comical yet surprisingly challenging set of songs that contains great songwriting, complex vocal harmony, and an exploration into music theory. 

 

Iron Maiden vs. Judas Priest

Rehearses on Tuesdays from 5:00-8:00PM starting 2/21

This show will pit the music of two British giants of the metal world against each other IRON MAIDEN VS. JUDAS PRIEST. Maiden and Priest emerged in the 1970s as the frontrunners of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) movement. Both bands took the baton from early metal bands like Deep Purple and UFO, pumped up tempo and the wattage, and ushered in an age of stage theatrics and guitar heroics that have influenced everyone from Metallica to Ghost. A can’t miss show for hard rock fans, challenging guitar harmonies and a killer show for drums, bass and vocals!. Some of the songs on the set: The Trooper (Iron Maiden), The Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden), Breaking the Law (Judas Priest), Painkiller (Judas Priest)!

 

Power Pop

Rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:00-8:00PM starting 2/22

Are you wondering what this show is all about? Well, POWER POP is one of rock's most enduring sub-genres, drawing inspiration from 1960s British and American rock and pop. These songs feature strong vocal melodies, prominent guitar riffs, driving drum beats, and simple yet memorable arrangements. These are songs that get stuck in your head, but you can always listen to them one more time! If you're looking for enduring rock classics from bands like ... then look no further! 

 

U2 vs Coldplay

Rehearses on Thursdays from 5:00-8:00PM starting 2/23

U2 vs COLDPLAY. Two globally huge alternative rock bands formed exactly two decades apart. These bands have written material that employ the use of expressive dynamics, amazing arrangements, and unorthodox effects and instruments. This show features hits including "Clocks", "Viva La Vida", and "Yellow" by Coldplay and "Where the Streets Have No Name", "With or Without You", "and Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2.

 

AC/DC

Rehearses on Saturdays from 12:00-3:00PM starting 2/25

One of the greatest and most notorious rock and roll bands of all time AC/DC and their music is essential curriculum for any student of rock! Founded in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, AC/DC reached a height of popularity in 1980 when they released the second best-selling record of all time: "Back in Black." Despite line-up changes over the years, the band continues to deliver their signature high-energy live performances to fans all over the world. Pay tribute to the band that brought you some of the biggest rock songs ever written, We call them hard rock, blues rock, and pioneers of heavy metal, but they simply call themselves rock and roll!
