Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Category Manager - Gear & Merch will oversee all our GearSelect program (musical instruments and accessories) and merch strategy (branded clothing and promotional items). This role will help establish brand strategy, category business objectives, and internal/external consumer marketing. In addition, the role will oversee vendor partnerships, product fulfillment, and school support. The combination of strategic and operational leadership will support our brand, sales, and margin goals. Simultaneously it will be important for this individual to collaborate across the organization to support business objectives. They will develop short-term and long-term growth plans with a disciplined, structured approach and consumer-first mindset. You will need fact-based decision-making capabilities grounded in consumer research and data.
Hybrid work arrangement. Must be within commutable distance to one of the corporate offices based in Canton, Massachusetts, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, or Culver City, California.

Responsible for fully managing GearSelect and Merch programs.
Oversee financials including budgeted sales in company schools and sales statements/rebate payments from GearSelect partners.
Onboard new vendor partners to expand the GearSelect breadth of products.
Act as a liaison between GearSelect partners and the system in regard to events, sponsorships, and artist relations opportunities.
Oversee the GearSelect help desk in response to assist all stakeholders with any matter related to GearSelect.
Manage, maintain, and develop new GearSelect and merchandise resources and tools for company and franchise school operators.
Coordinate with Franchise Development and Operations team to enroll new and existing franchisees into the GearSelect program.
Develop cross-departmental strategies to continually improve ease of sale process, school experience, and customer satisfaction.
Identify opportunities to introduce new products and/or categories that drive results.
Collaborate with internal and external partners with the goal of continually improving processes, practices, systems, and other areas of opportunity.
1-3 years experience in Category Management.
Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships (with internal partners, franchisees, and other critical stakeholders).
Strong business acumen, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Proficient in MS Excel and Google Sheets with experience analyzing data.
Ability to report regularly on Key Performance Indicators for GearSelect.
Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks within a constantly changing and demanding environment. Demonstrated track record for flexibility and urgency in prioritizing and organizing projects.
Skilled with various software productivity tools.
Demonstrated ability to mediate and resolve conflict as well as effectively communicate and positively influence stakeholders.
Possesses a high degree of self-motivation with a proven track record of achieving results.
Strong understanding of School of Rock's equipment needs across different instruments and product categories.
Ability to understand and/or interpret the Franchisor/Franchisee agreements and mutual obligations.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution

Exceptional execution, organization, and management skills
Passion for music is essential. Musical proficiency on guitar, bass, drum, and keys is a plus.
