About the Job
The Events and Promotions Manager role leads experiential programs and partnerships. Each year School of Rock puts on major-scale events for its studentsâallowing them to play on the biggest stages in the world. These types of experiential events are critical to School of Rockâs brand promise, and its marketing strategy. These events include national tours (AllStars), regional events (Summerfest Music Festival) and other programs (i.e. NAAMM, expos and more). This person will be responsible for planning and execution of these major brand events.
All skills and experience requirements are outlined below, but the perfect candidate should possess these key traits:
The ability to get things done. This person must be a self-starter and possess expert level project management skills that ensures on-schedule delivery of projects. Entrepreneurial mentality with willingness to âroll up your sleevesâ is a must.
Detail-oriented. Successful, flawless execution will be critical to this role. This person must have the ability to think through all details and implications of a particular program.
A customer-first attitude. This person will be interfacing significantly with internal (franchise owners) and external customers. It will be critical that this individual have a service-first mentality.
Track record of success running and managing complex, large-scale events. This person should have significant experience executing and planning multi-faceted strategic events.
Strong verbal and written communications. Communication internally and externally is vital to this role. This individual must be able to quickly and concisely articulate strategies, key points, takeaways and other marketing messages to both internal and external audiences.
Driven, with a can-do attitude. This person must leave their ego at home. The perfect candidate will have a positive, constructive and eager-to-learn attitude with the primary focus on collectively driving incredible results (with the corporate team and the franchisees).
Leadership. This person must be able to lead cross-functional teams and the franchisee system through complex events.
Lead and manage brand events such as conferences, music festivals, concerts, AllStars tour, and more with minimal direction.
Negotiate and book talent such as musicians, speakers, and bands.
Develop and manage event timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
Lead negotiations for event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies, equipment and signage, and ensure appropriate decor to meet quality and brand standards.
Lead negotiations to secure contracts with transportation, lodging, and other vendors needed for events.
Plan event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, travel and accommodations, stage times and musical equipment.
Keep inventory of backdrops, projectors, computers, merchandise, and any other materials.
Manage each event within a specified budget. This includes reviewing and managing all the eventâs invoices prior to submitting them to Accounts Payable.
Managing on-site production and clean-up for events as necessary along with closing of events.
Develop and own comprehensive project plans for each event
Incorporates and ensures safety protocols are implemented
Collaborate across departments and executive management team members throughout event planning and execution processes
Effectively manage a cross-functional team in executing each event. Influences without direct authority over the cross functional team.
Create clear communications to internal and external stakeholders clarifying event details.
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years event management experience
Project management certification is a plus
Excellent time management and communication skills
Excellent organization and project management skills
Sales skills ability to build productive business relationships
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and effectively
Proficient using web to conduct research as well as the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and all Google tools
Experience in the music industry is a plus
