Music Director, Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher Dustin
Dustin
Music Director, Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher
Dustin got his start in music at a young age. Growing up in a household with a family piano, he would spend many hours trying to learn the themes from his favorite movies and TV shows. Though his first real attempt at learning an instrument in the fourth grade band did not go too well, he eventually took up the bass guitar at the age of 13. It was not long after this that he found himself playing in multiple bands and recording a handful of records. In high school, he continued his musical journey through guitar classes, chorus, jazz band, and various original projects.

At age 17, Dustin started picking up work as a freelance musician for various studios and artists around the Atlanta and Nashville areas. During his first semester at Kennesaw State, Dustin joined The Silver Comet (aka, THE SAGAS) and through this band, had the opportunity to tour the continental U.S. and Canada on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. Two years later, the band toured England and France and founded their own record label called Wake Records.

In 2017, Dustin began working as an instructor at School of Rock John's Creek where he taught bass, guitar, and the Rock 101, Performance, and Adult Band programs. Over the next six years, he continued working as a freelance musician and teaching music at School of Rock.

In late summer of 2023, Dustin accepted the position of Music Director at School of Rock Atlanta. In addition to his freelance work, he currently plays bass for Atlanta-based acts Casual Cadenza, HeyDreamer, GAMMA STAR, The Future Babes, The Pussywillows, Fooshee's Forecast, Gus Glasser, TRUETT, and Shishito.

All of this passion culminated in a stint as a final assembler at the PRS Factory, where Ivy helped produce over 1,000 instruments and even instructed some of their fellow workers at the same time.

Ivy sought to enrich and contribute on a more local level and joined the School of Rock Atlanta team with an eagerness to teach and inspire.
