Ear training, song structure, rhythm patterns and group playing are all part of this week-long introduction to music. In this music camp, students will learn about all the different rock instruments and begin their introduction to music theory and music appreciation. This camp is designed for 5 to 7-year-old students who have little to no experience with music. This five-day camp runs Monday through Friday with a performance at the end of the last day.
What Will Each Day Look Like?
Each day at Rookies Camp is designed to spark curiosity and excitement about music! Campers will start with fun, interactive activities that introduce them to rhythm patterns, song structure, and ear training. Throughout the day, they’ll explore different rock instruments, learning the basics of how they work and how to play together as a group. Our engaging, hands-on approach helps young musicians develop confidence while having a blast. At the end of the week, students will showcase what they’ve learned in a special performance for family and friends!

Ages: 5-7 years old (no prior music experience required!)
Schedule: 9 am- 3pm August 4-8
What to Bring: Water bottle, excitement, and a love for music! (All instruments provided.)
Performance: The camp wraps up with a fun showcase on the last day.

Q: Does my child need to bring their own instrument or are instruments provided?
A: For Rookies Camp, you do not need to bring your own instrument.
Q: Does my child need to bring a lunch or snack? Is any food provided throughout the day?
A: Each student needs to bring their own lunch and water daily. We suggest that students pack snacks as well.
Q: What does an average day of SOR camp look like? Do they play music ALL day long?
A: A typical day at camp involves games and small group lesson sessions, as well as the group rehearsals.
Q: Do the students need to have any musical experience or will you teach them at camp?
A: For the Rookies Camp, no experience is necessary!
Q: Where does SOR camp take place?
A: Our camps all take place at our School of Rock location, right next to Blockbuster. 211 NE Revere Ave.
Q: What ages of students attend camp? Will there be someone close to my child’s age?
A: Rookies is designed for students 5-7 years old
Q: Who are the Instructors/Staff?
A: Our instructors are real working, professional musicians. They are chosen not only based on their qualifications, but also how they can relate that with our students.
Q: What is the Student : Instructor ratio?
A: We try to have 6:1 ratio at all camps.
Q: What happens if we can’t make it to camp one/multiple day(s)?
A: We have limited space in our camps and wait lists for some. We ask that your child attend all 5-days of camp because they are a large part of the entire set-list. There are no partial refunds due to days missed.
Q: Are parents allowed to take audio/video recordings during camp?
A: No. But you can take audio/video recordings during the show at the end of the week.
Q: What are some things NOT to bring to camp?
A: Please do not allow your child to bring any toys, trading cards, dolls, or personal electronic devices, etc. Anything that might distract them should stay at home. We do not take responsibility for any broken or lost items.
Q: What are your drop-off and pick-up policies?
A: Please drop off between 8:45am – 9:00am and pick up by 3:15pm at the latest.
