Yes, as part of the School of Rock Method, our SongFirst™ approach uses classic songs to teach technique and music theory. This method helps students remain excited about their music education and eager to practice.  Our Method includes the Method Books for the instrument being explored, as well as the Method App which contains the exercises in the books, as well as transciptions for the songs we teach. HOW DOES SCHOOL OF ROCK WORK?

School of Rock is a performance-based music program based on a rock curriculum, and we use the term 'rock' in the broadest sense.  We like to say we do everything except 'bad' country.

School of Rock uses a patented performance-based music education method that builds musical proficiency through our proprietary Method Engine, Method App, Method Book collection, and SongFirst approach.

We provide private lessons, as well as group programs such as Rock 101 and Performance Group.  We have a group program for young musicians ages 6-7, called Rookies, where they can explore several instruments. We do teach adults, and have a lesson program as well as an Adult Performance Program.

In addition to the tools mentioned above, we use the BAND app as a communication platform.  This is how we handle school-wide communication, and this is what we use to facilitate communication between teachers, students and parents in a secure online environment.

WHAT AGE DOES SCHOOL OF ROCK START?

At School of Rock Easton, we start private lessons on drums, keys and vocal generally at 6 years old.  A basic requirement is that the student be able to read to some degree, since a lot of what we communicate is in written format. We typically start lessons on guitar and bass at 8 years old, since those instruments usually require a bit more manual dexterity.

For the younger musicians, ages 6-7, we do offer a Rookies group program, which allows them to explore several instruments.
