Explore School of Rock

Enrollment has started for our summer/fall performance season!

Performance Program - School of Rock’s Flagship Program - is a unique combination of private and group lessons which offers students the opportunity to apply every concept they learn in their private lesson into a real rock n roll setting; essentially connecting the dots from the practice room, to full band rehearsals, and finally up to the stage at some of Chicago's best rock clubs! Our students have performed at Lincoln Hall, Double Door, Schubas, & The Empty Bottle, among countless other amazing venues. Each season, we offer a variety of amazing performance group themes (i.e. the music of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, HeavyMetal, etc… ) from which students are able to select their group.

Tuition for this program is $334/month and includes a weekly 45 minute private lesson as well as a weekly group rehearsal that runs 90 minutes. You would be billed on a recurring monthly basis and you could cancel anytime during the current month for the following month. However, we ask that once you commit to a season, you stay until the final performance.

And now, for our themes!

Mondays 5:15pm-6:45pm

Hailing from the rainy streets of Seattle, grunge features flannel clad men (and a few women!) pouring out sludgy detuned riffs, powerful drum/bass interplays, and evocative vocals over suprisingly sophisticated songwriting!

First Rehearsal: Monday, February 6th

Dress Rehearsal: Friday, May 19th

Performance: Saturday, May 20th

Tuesdays 3:45pm-5:15pm

Soul music, one of the very frameworks rock and roll is built upon, is a great work out for all instruments - but the funky bass and drum interplay is especially crucial here!  And vocalists will learn all about harmony,  crucial concept to master!

First Rehearsal: Tuesday, February 7th

Dress Rehearsal: Friday, May 19th

Performance: Saturday, May 20th

Wednesdays 6:45pm-8:15pm

Indie Rock, a nebulously defined genre of music, combines everything from moody synths to touches of guitar hero shredding  to create a bold new sound!  Featuring some amazing showmanship from front people, this genre also tests the ryhmn section!

First Rehearsal: Wednesday, February 8th

Dress Rehearsal: Friday, May 19th

Performance: Saturday, May 20th

New Wave

Thursdays 6:45pm-8:15pm

The introduction of consumer grade synsethiszers, combined with echos of punk's heyday, produced the tight and jittery music that has become known as New Wave!  Keys player will learn a lot about what their instrument can do, but then again so will guitarists!

First Rehearsal: Thursday, February 9th

Dress Rehearsal: Friday, May 19th

Performance: Saturday, May 20th

Fridays 5:15pm-6:45pm

Pop, short for popular music, draws from a long history of everything from doo wop to European tance to create an intoxicating sound you can't help but dance to!  Obviously great for vocalists, but bassist and drummers will get a work out too!

First Rehearsal: Friday, February 10th

Dress Rehearsal: Friday, May 19th

Performance: Saturday, May 20th
