LINKIN PARK 
AGES 10-18 | MONDAYS 6-8PM

Formed in California in 1996, Linkin Park blasted onto the Rock scene with a unique blend of alternative, metal and hip-hop sounds. They gained mainstream success with their first two releases “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora” as well as their collaborative album with Jay-Z, “Collision Course.” Their third release, “Minutes to Midnight” launched them into the stratosphere through its inclusion in the Transformers movie franchise. Linkin Park will provide an excellent challenge for intermediate players of all instruments and provide a unique challenge for keyboardists through adaptation of unique sounds. Additionally, Linkin Park makes use of multiple vocal techniques such as belting, screaming, and rapping.

sONGWRITING*

AGES 10-18 | TUESDAYS 6-8PM

We’re STOKED to bring back our Songwriting band! This is one of the most unique band experiences that we offer, as students will learn the art of crafting a song from the seed of an idea to a full fledged performance. Band members will develop collaborative creative skills, intimate knowledge of song structure, applied use of music theory, lyric writing, and a basic understanding of the recording process At the end of the season, we will have a full setlist of all original songs! *Band members must have participated in at least one performance program prior*

hENDRIX VS SANTANA
AGES 13-18 | WEDNESDAYS 6-8PM

A battle of the titans! Guitarists, this is the show for you! Both Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana blew up on the blues and psychedelic rock scene in the late 1960’s. Arguably two of the most influential guitarists of all time, both artists pushed the boundaries of where audiences thought that the electric guitar could go. Hendrix melded his insane blues chops with what was at that time cutting-edge technology to create never before heard sounds on the instrument before sadly passing away in 1970. Carlos Santana blended modern and traditional Latin influences along with rock and blues structures and electric energy to create one of the most unmistakable and signature sounds in all of music, often imitated but never replicated.

mOTOWN
AGES 10-18 | THURSDAYS 6-8PM

Motown Records was incorporated in Detroit in 1960, the name being an homage to the "Motor City.” As an African-American owned label, Motown played a major part in the racial integration of pop music in the ‘60s. Many of its most famous artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Superemes and The Jackson 5 blended soul music with a pop sound and appeal to solidify what eventually became known as the “Motown sound.” This is a challenging show for all instruments and will not only have powerhouse vocals, but highlight the importance of a tight rhythm section.

SOUTHERN ROCK

AGES 10-18 | FRIDAYS 6-8PM

Contrasting British influenced rock of the same era, many bands from the American South leaned more into country influences alongside traditional blues. Groups such as The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Marshall Tucker Band set a scaffolding for later, more sonically intense acts like ZZ Top and Molly Hatchet. This is an excellent show for all skill levels, as many songs have more simple song structures, allowing beginners to focus on fundamentals, while also challenging more seasoned players through solos, harmonies and improvisation.

CLASSIC PUNK
AGES 8-18 | *SATURDAYS 9-11AM

An ideal show for beginner to intermediate players, the Classic Punk show will allow band members to develop fundamental skills while keeping the energy high!  Drummers will work on developing speed and accuracy, harmony instruments will develop fundamental skills such as major and minor chords, power chords, and muting.  This show features iconic seminal punk bands such as Ramones, The Clash, Fugazi, Black Flag, and more.  While the punk show is musically beginner friendly, the nature of the lyrical content can be somewhat mature.  We do our best to make any necessary lyrical edits to make the tunes friendly for all ages!

*HOUSEBAND | AGES 12-18 | SATURDAYS 11-1PM

The School of Rock Madison House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to *audition for a spot in School of Rock Madison's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at CT rock venues throughout the year.*  

THE ROAD TO THE END OF SEASON SHOW

Mid-Season Shows are just the halfway point. From there, students keep refining their songs, tightening their arrangements, and preparing for the full concert experience at the Clinton Town Hall on January 30th and 31st.

The venue offers a large concert experience with stage lighting, professional sound, seating for families, and standing room for fans who want to dance like it’s a real rock show. Our venders will provide soft drinks, snacks, and beverages available throughout the day. Band list below. Set times listed closer to show with finalized casting and song waves.

Where It All Starts: Rookies and Rock 101

Of course, not every student starts out playing prog rock or metal.

ROOKIES | AGES 4-7 | WED 5-6 & FRIDAYS 4-5PM

Our Rookies program introduces younger students (ages 4–7) to rhythm, musical basics, and different instruments in a fun, exploratory setting. It’s where a lot of our youngest musicians discover what they love to play. We have weekly Rookies classes and week long half day rookies camps!

ROCK101 | AGES 6-10 | MONDAYS 4:30-6 & THURSDAY 4:15-5:45

From there, many students move into Rock 101, where they start rehearsing simplified rock songs together as a band. For a lot of students, Rock 101 is the moment where things really click, they realize they’re not just learning an instrument anymore. They’re in a band. NEXT STOP: PERFORMANCE PROGRAM!
