Summer Show Season Announced

School of Rock Orlando is excited to announce its Summer 2019 Show Season. We will be rehearsing "Rock and Grohl" on Tuesdays evenings, featuring the music of Dave Grohl. Also, we will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock with a Woodstock show, focusing on the music of the iconic bands from that important event.

Dave Grohl is the leader of Foo Fighters and a founding member of the grunge-era band Nirvana, who's influence changed the course of music in the 1990's. Foo Fighters meld melodic elements with heavier ones, and have found worldwide success and won multiple awards, most notably with four of their albums winning Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. With Nirvana, Grohl established himself as a highly appreciated drummer, and in 2014 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside bandmates Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic in the group's first year of eligibility.[1] Grohl is also the drummer and co-founder of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, and wrote the music and performed all the instruments for his short-lived side projects Late! and Probot. He has also recorded and frequently toured with rock band Queens of the Stone Age. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Grohl

Woodstock was a music festival held between August 15–18, 1969, which attracted an audience of more than 400,000. Billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", it was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm near White Lake in Bethel, New York, 43 miles (70 km) southwest of Woodstock. Over the sometimes rainy weekend, 32 acts performed outdoors. It is widely regarded as a pivotal moment in popular music history, as well as the definitive nexus for the larger counterculture generation. Rolling Stone listed it as number 19 of the 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock
