In this special 5-day camp, students will analyze some of the greatest compositions of the last 60 years and learn how to write their own songs.
ABOUT THIS CAMP
Unleash your creativity at our special songwriting camp, where students will delve into the greatest compositions of the past 60 years and discover the art of crafting their own songs. Throughout this immersive experience, students will analyze iconic compositions and work in groups of 2-3 to develop their own unique tune as a group. From exploring chord progressions to mastering arrangements and other trade secrets, students will spend the week honing their songwriting skills, culminating in an unforgettable live performance at the end of the week with their group. This camp is perfect for students aged 12-18 who have previous musical instruction.
SCHEDULE
- Camp runs Monday to Friday 9am - 3pm each day
- Drop off is no earlier than 8:30am each day
- Pick up is no later than 3:30pm each day
- Each day will consist of rehearsals, practice time & fun music-based games/activities
FRIDAY PERFORMANCE
On Friday, campers will put on a show for family and friends and perform the songs they’ve been working on all week. The show will take place at the school at 2pm. and we will be providing more details on the first day of camp.
WHAT TO BRING
- Ear plugs are required for all campers (we have some you can purchase if needed) Simple foam earplugs, or over-the-head headphone style ear protection works!
- Campers must bring their own (NUT-FREE) lunch, snacks and water bottle labeled with their name each day.
- Appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and playing outside (during summer camps), as well as being indoors.
- Guitarists must bring their own guitar or bass, straps, picks and extra strings. Drummers must bring their own drumsticks.
- Please note that campers may rotate through and play different instruments throughout the camp, depending on the needs of the group.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Students are not permitted to leave the facility at ANY time on their own, and must be picked up by a parent or guardian at the end time
- We love our parents, siblings, friends and family members, but please understand that we can only allow students and staff in the school for camps.
- Please note that campers may rotate through and play different instruments throughout the camp, depending on the needs of the group. They may not be playing their first instrument of choice.
- Please review the school's Code of Conduct with your child prior to the first day of camp.
- A fully completed and signed waiver is required in order to attend and participate in programs at School of Rock. After registering for camp, please sign the required waivers on the School of Rock client portal - Pike13, which you can access from your confirmation email.
- Students work in small groups of 2-3 students to write a song together as a group.
- Unfortunately we are unable to accomodate campers under 12 years of age. Students must be at least 12 years old at the start of camp for this camp. However, please check out our Rock 101 camps for kids 7-11 years old.
SUMMER CAMPS SPECIFIC
For summer camps only - Weather permitting, on select days of camp, students may have some outdoor time with their group under the supervision of camp instructors. This may include a walk to a local park and/or playground, or another location nearby our facility to have lunch or participate in camp activities. Please make sure that your child brings appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and playing outside, as well as being indoors.
PARKING / DROP OFF
Paid parking is available in the underground parking lot which can be accessed from 12th ave. Limited 1 hour street parking is available directly in front of our building on Cambie Street as well. Please bring your child inside rather than dropping them off at the street. A parent or guardian must be present to pick up each camper. We are unable to let students leave the building on their own at any time, or to meet you on the street.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations more than seven days before the first day of camp will receive a full refund. Cancellations between 6 days and 24 hours prior to the start of camp will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are provided for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to the start of camp. In the event that School of Rock must cancel a camp for any reason (such as not enough campers), a full refund will be provided.To cancel, please call us at 778-561-4261 or email us at vancouver@schoolofrock.com.
