ABOUT THE JOB
Summer Camp Instructors are an integral part of the School of Rock Vancouver team by helping to create an amazing and fun experience for students, while inspiring them to discover their musical potential! This temporary position will start on June 1st or earlier in a part-time / casual capacity during the month of June, with hours potentially increasing to 20-40 hours per week during July and August. While the contract will end on September 1st, there may be a possibility of extension or change into a permanent role after this date.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Manager is an integral part of the School of Rock Vancouver team, helping the General Manager and Music Director with sales, customer service and administrative duties, as well as maintaining a strong, supportive, and extremely positive culture for students, parents and staff. Here are a few key responsibilities;
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide top quality customer service experience for students and their parents,
- Assist the General Manager with a variety of tasks including but not limited to; sales, customer service, managing staff schedules, enforcing policies and procedures, opening & closing the school, maintaining gear and equipment, inventory management, managing school safety, and maintaining a clean and tidy facility,
- A key responsibility is to manage the sales pipeline; reviewing incoming leads, scheduling and managing tours and trials, responding to email and voicemail leads, answering phone calls, and achieving sales KPI’s and goals,
- Assist with social media, newsletter, and website content,
- Assist the Music Director to help deliver an excellent music education program, lessons, rehearsals and shows,
- Supervise staff and the school facility to provide a positive, safe, cool and appropriate experience for students,
- Mentor and assist instructors in the delivery of lessons and programs as needed,
- Assist with the preparation, organization and delivery of special events and shows, including the preparing show materials and gear, as well as the loading and unloading of equipment and gear as needed,
- Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, Safety Policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision Policy,
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Music Director
This is a new position and duties and responsibilities may shift over time.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years of sales and customer service experience,
- A keen interest in music, especially rock music
- Successfully complete all assigned training including, but not limited to; Studio Coordinator Training, General Manager Training, First Aid Certification, Safety Training, and other training as assigned by the required due dates set by the General Manager and Music Director,
- Strong ability to communicate professionally in writing, electronically, as well as verbally,
- Respond to emails, phone calls and text messages in a timely manner as needed on occasion outside of working hours,
- Be fully available for all scheduled shifts from June 1st to September 1st.
- Previous experience as an assistant manager, administration, customer service, or sales are considered assets,
- Highly organized with attention to detail,
- Computer and tech savvy with the ability to learn software quickly,
- A welcoming, friendly and outgoing demeanor is essential
- Excellent team player who loves to collaborate with others
- A positive and patient personality
- A clean criminal record background check is required and is a condition of employment
- A current and valid First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain prior to the first day) is a condition of employment
- This position is entirely in-person at our Vancouver location. No remote work is available.
- Must be able to commit to all shifts throughout the contract / season, including required training, orientations and meetings.
TRAINING
Training will take place in June and must be completely successfully by the deadlines set by the General Manager.
