By submitting this form you are committing to the full Fall/Winter 2025-2026 season, regardless of show placement. Please be sure you are able to make this commitment before signing up as it makes rehearsals difficult for the other students and directors alike if a student were to suddenly drop out after initial casting.

Students rank their top 6 shows in order of preference. Students are encouraged to discuss their preferences with their instructor prior to the submission of this form. Sample playlists for all shows can be found below.

The Modern Metal show traces the evolution of metal music from the turn of the century to the present day, and focuses on bands who kept the virtuosic spirit of metal alive while incorporating more contemporary techniques into their sound, such as an emphasis on melody and harmony, and modern studio production. Artists such as Disturbed and Slipknot rose to prominence with the popularity of Nu-Metal, while Metalcore bands such as Killswitch Engage and The Dillinger Escape Plan brought the genre into the 2010s. The Modern Metal show will celebrate this next generation of metal artists - including Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Baroness, Gojira, System of a Down, Lamb of God, Mastodon, and more! This is a super challenging show for all instruments, as the speed and precision of this music requires quite a bit of proficiency to master.

Riot grrrl was an underground feminist punk movement that originated in the early 1990s in the Pacific Northwest, particularly Olympia, Washington. It emerged as a response to sexism within the punk scene and sought to empower women through music, zines, and activism. Riot grrrl is considered a precursor to third-wave feminism, addressing issues of female empowerment and challenging patriarchal structures. The Riot Grrl Legacy show is about the bands that drove this movement, as well as the music that was inspired by it.

Talking Heads were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1975.It consisted of vocalist-guitarist David Byrne, drummer Chris Frantz, bassist Tina Weymouth and guitarist-keyboardist Jerry Harrison. Described as "one of the most critically acclaimed groups of the '80s," Talking Heads helped to pioneer new wave music by combining elements of punk, art rock, funk, and world music with "an anxious yet clean-cut image"; they have been called "a properly postmodernist band".
Devois an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Devo's music and visual presentation (including stage shows and costumes) mingle kitsch science fiction themes, deadpan surrealist humor and mordantly satirical social commentary. The band's namesake, the tongue-in-cheek social theory of "de-evolution", was an integral concept in their early work, which was marked by experimental and dissonant art punk that merged rock music with electronics. Their output in the 1980s embraced synth-pop and a more mainstream, less conceptual style, though the band's satirical and quirky humor remained intact. Their music has proven influential on subsequent movements, particularly on new wave, industrial, and alternative rock artists.

Abbey Road is the last Album that British band, the Beatles, recorded before their split in 1970. Abbey Road is regarded as one of the greatest albums by one of the most influential bands in history. With incredible songwriting and stellar musicianship, this album is filled with so much to immerse and dig into.

Grunge is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the Pacific Northwest, particularly Seattle, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. It's characterized by a raw, distorted guitar sound, angsty and introspective lyrics, and often, a disaffected or apathetic vocal delivery. Grunge is heavily influenced by punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock, creating a unique blend of styles and attitudes. The 4 bands widely accepted as the pioneers and greatest successes of the genre are Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains.
