CAMP DESCRIPTION
Grab your neon, tease that hair, and get ready to moonwalk into music history in our Best of the ’80s 5-Day Camp, students will travel through time to an era of fluorescent clothes, big hair, and even bigger sounds. On August 1, 1981, a little thing called MTV hit the airwaves and launched a musical revolution. Suddenly, artists weren’t just heard — they were seen — and the ’80s exploded with unforgettable style, swagger, and sound. From Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” from Prince’s “Purple Rain” to the raw power of Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, and Journey, this camp dives deep into the songs, styles, and stories that made the decade iconic. We’ll also explore the New Wave and synth-pop side of the ’80s — bands like The Go-Gos, The Cure, Culture Club, and Eurythmics, where guitars met keyboards and rock met fashion. Great for young musicians 7-18 who have some previous instruction.
Please note: We do ask that campers have some experience in their instrument and have some fundamentals down so that we can ensure that the camp week is fun for everyone!
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
- Camp runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm each day
- Each day will consist of rehearsals, practice time & fun music-based games & activities
- On Friday, campers will play and perform the songs they’ve been working on throughout the week!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Students can expect an exciting and educational week of learning music taught by our talented camp instructors. Each day, students will be asked to bring lunch, snacks, water, and hearing protection.
At School of Rock, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. To help us maintain this space, we ask parents to avoid packing any nut products in lunches or snacks. We also prohibit any toy or real weapons from being brought to camp.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- A 100% refund on camps canceled more than 60 days prior to camp start date.
- A 50% refund on camps canceled 15-60 days prior to the camp start date.
- Cancellations within 14 days of the camp start date are not eligible for a refund.
