SUMMER SEASON 2026

It is time to start prepping for our Summer 2026 Season! We are super excited to announce our new Show Themes.

Please make sure to read this newsletter in its entirety. Whether you are currently enrolled, or you are interested in getting started at School of Rock, there will be a ton of information that will help you plan for the Summer Season.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I SIGN-UP FOR THE SUMMER SEASON?

All Rock 101, Performance, and Adult Students must fill out one of our sign-up forms. Current students should discuss your show choices with your instructors over the next week before the sign-up forms officially open for enrollment.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T SIGN UP?

Students are NOT automatically enrolled in the same show time for next season. If you don't sign up in time, we will reach out during Prep Week to let you know what show you have been automatically placed in.

If you are planning on not participating in a show during the Summer Season, we require an emailed 30-DAY NOTICE. Contact us at dallas@schoolofrock.com if you are taking a break.

IS MY STUDENT GUARANTEED A SPOT IN THEIR "FIRST CHOICE"?

Spots are never guaranteed in any of our shows. We will always prioritize the educational balance of our shows above any other metrics. The best way to ensure you are placed in a preferred show is to fill out the form as soon as possible and discuss your choice with your instructor in the week before sign-ups. There are a limited number of spots per instrument in each show to ensure that they are fairly balanced.

NEED TO KNOW

We will be placing students in the show that will not only be educational for the students, but also maintain balance within the groups. Not every student will get their first choice show. Bands will be cast not only based on first come first serve responses, but by instrumentation as well. This season we will be limiting the number of instruments in each band to ensure even play time across all bands.

The deadline to submit your online signup form is Sunday, May 17th, 2026.

As a reminder, we are closed the week of May 25th - May 30th, 2026 for our seasonal prep week.

Make sure you understand you are committing to this band. The 2026 SUMMER SEASON runs from June 1st through September 27th, so keep your schedule in mind when filling out your form. We are tentatively planning our Midseason Showcase for beginning of August and our Season Showcase for end of September.

Remember, School of Rock is a year-round program. We break the year into 4-month seasons in order to set new goals for our students and change rehearsal material each season.

Performance Program

DRUMEGEDDON: MONDAYS 6:30PM-8:30PM

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST PREVIEW

Get ready for a powerful show celebrating the music of the ‘90s grunge era. With unforgettable guitar riffs, dynamic vocals, and songs that helped define a generation, this performance highlights the energy and emotion of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. It’s a fun, high-energy set that showcases the sound, style, and influence of one of rock’s most iconic movements.

BLUES LEGENDS: TUESDAYS 6:30PM-8:30PM

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST PREVIEW

The Blues is a genre that transcends time and cultural boundaries, and has influenced, in some capacity, nearly every song that has come since its original inception. This show is a crash course in the great blues players over the years and within its setlist, it shows how the torch was passed throughout the years. From the original blues pioneers to the '80s blues revival and beyond, this show is not only a great lesson in instrument improvisation, but also why the blues will never fade away! Traditional artists like Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, and Albert King will be showcased, along with more contemporary blues masters like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, and Gary Clark Jr. Throughout the many changes in blues music over the years, it still remains the most influential genre from which all modern rock is derived. One of the greatest aspects of the genre is the way it remembers its creators, innovators, and pioneers. It truly is music that will continue to stand the test of time as we celebrate those that we call “Blues Legends”.

GRUNGE: WEDNESDAYS 5:30PM-7:30PM

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST PREVIEW

Drums and percussion have been around for as long as recorded history, but in the past hundred years, and with the creation of the drum kit, the instrument has reached new groundbreaking heights. The drums are the foundation on what the rest of the band can build upon. From a Blues Shuffle to modern-day “Trap” Hi-Hats, the drum is an ever-changing and evolving instrument that lays the foundation for the music that we all love and cherish. Some of the drum legends who will be showcased in the Drumageddon Show are Neil Peart (Rush), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Ginger Baker (Cream), Danny Carey (Tool). Artists who incorporated multiple drummers or large percussion sections, such as The Allman Brothers Band, Santana, and The Grateful Dead, will also be featured in this show. Through this wide and diverse setlist, students will see the evolution of drumming throughout the years, and how the great innovators of the instrument continued to influence rock music’s history. This is an extremely important educational opportunity for drum students as well as all other instrumentalists to pay homage to the greatest drummers of the modern era.

(AGES 7-12)

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock’s major programs for kids and beginners. The patented School of Rock Method combines our core philosophy of performance-based music education with a unique curriculum designed for kids with no previous musical experience. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn classic rock songs that have been simplified specifically for beginner musicians. These rehearsals get young musicians to learn the fundamentals of their instrument while playing with a band in a positive and fun atmosphere. Students also have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who will help them rehearse performance songs while teaching them foundational music skills and concepts.

ADULT - CBGB: WEDNESDAY 7:45PM-9:45PM

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST PREVIEW

The CBGB show is an overview of the early New Wave bands who got their break at the legendary NYC club. When CBGB opened in 1973, no one had any idea that a Bowery dive bar would become known as the birthplace of Punk. The official name was CBGB & OMFUG: Country, Bluegrass, Blues & and Other Music for Uplifting Gormandizers. While the Ramones generally get credit for starting the Punk scene, Television was actually the first band in this scene to play at CBGBs, on March 31, 1974. Soon artists like Blondie, Talking Heads, and Patti Smith set up residence at CBGBs, along with British bands like The Police and Elvis Costello who made CBGB their stateside hangout. As the Punk scene grew and took hold, other bands such as Cleveland transplants the Dead Boys and New Jersey’s Misfits became CBGB mainstays. The CBGB show offers a diverse and highly educational mix of ridiculously cool artists that can challenge students on any instrument at all experience levels.

ADULT - THE MUSIC OF NEW ORLEANS: THURSDAY 7:45PM-9:45PM

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST PREVIEW

Jazz is not the only American musical art form that was created in New Orleans. From Fats Domino and Little Richard to the Meters and Allen Toussaint, we would not have Rock & Roll, Funk, or Soul music without the groundbreaking artists from this vibrant city. New Orleans’ unique blend of culture is reflected in the music. There are certain giants who must be mentioned whenever the music of New Orleans is contemplated. The first of these would be Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, a pre-WWII era trumpeter and a huge influence on the Jazz foundations of the city even after he left in 1922. Another who requires mentioning is pianist Alan Toussaint. Toussaint went on to write, produce, or play on many of the most iconic New Orleans records by the Meters, Ernie K Doe, Irma Thomas, and Dr. John. After the end of WWII the music scene of New Orleans began to flourish again, as artists like Fats Domino and the Dixie Cups began to break through racial barriers and find mainstream success. Throughout its rich history, the city of New Orleans has fostered a rainbow of musical genres such as Dixieland, R&B, Rock, Hip Hop and even Heavy Metal, sometimes spawning bands that incorporate multiple of these genres together to create something very particularly New Orleans in style. Artists like the jazz-funk-jam band Galactic continue to represent the city's diverse musical influences in the present day. This is a great show for learning new rhythms and broadening a student’s musical horizons. Many of the songs are piano driven, but this is a fantastic show for all instruments and experience levels.
