School of Rock in Delco, PA proudly serves the local community and surrounding areas like Media, Springfield, Swarthmore, Garnet Valley, Glen Mills, and Lima with a revolutionary music education approach. Our quality music lessons are taught by real, practicing musicians and students can learn to rock out on guitar, keyboards, drums, and vocals, across many genres. Philidelphia has a strong music scene and is the hometown of major artists like Todd Rundgren and Jim Croce. At School of Rock, students can jam together, perform live music, and develop their skills in a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Our students perform at community-based events like Delco Day, Haverford Township Music Festival, and Rosetree Music Festival. Rock 101 music program in  for kids and beginners
Rock 101
Ages 8-13

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock Delco's top programs for kids and beginners. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn to play classic rock songs that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, Rock 101 students in Delco have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who helps them learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.

The Path to Take the Stage

Our music programs for kids in are designed to get students on stage performing, with the goal of building strong musical proficiency. Younger students at School of Rock Delco who have participated in the Rookies program can move to our Rock 101 music program once they’re ready. Additionally, students (typically ages 8 to 13-years-old) can begin Rock 101 without any prior experience. The goal of this rock program is to quickly develop a basic competence on students’ chosen instruments before moving on to our famous Performance Program.

The Performance Program at School of Rock Delco is our hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. It consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, refining the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, School of Rock Delco Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

The Path to Take the Stage

School of Rock Delco's music programs for kids and teens are designed to inspire by getting students on stage and performing. All of our other music education programs focus on readying students for our famous Performance Program. This is where students develop incredible musical skills. Performance Program students have often gone through our Rock 101 program first or have some previous basic music experience. These young musicians will have custom development plans outlined by their instructors with key concepts reinforced during private lessons and group rehearsals, all with the goal of performing live at a music venue.

Rookies
Ages 6-7

At School of Rock Delco, our music program for children with no previous musical experience (typically ages 6 to 7-years-old) is called Rookies. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they can later decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.

The Path to Take the Stage

All of our music programs are designed to inspire students to learn and develop a strong musical proficiency. At School of Rock Delco, younger students who are not ready for a more comprehensive program like Rock 101 can start in Rookies. Additionally, students who have completed the Little Wing program will progress into the Rookies music program. No prior musical experience is needed for Rookies. Once your child is ready for private music lessons (typically older than first or second graders), they will graduate into our Rock 101 program.

At School of Rock Delco our Little Wing music program for preschoolers and toddlers teaches students foundational music skills by playing games and participating in other interactive musical activities. Little Wing students have one weekly group music lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody and dynamics through play.

The Path to Take the Stage

The Little Wing music program is the first step in a young musician's journey. At School of Rock Delco, toddlers and preschoolers who show an interest in music should start with Little Wing. As they get older, they will progress into the Rookies program, followed by Rock 101 and the Performance Program.

Songwriting
Age 12 and over

Our Songwriting program for kids and teens teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement and music theory, and helps students compose original works.  At School of Rock Delco, songwriting students receive one weekly private lesson where they learn concepts, technique and theory on an instrument of their choice. These principles are then applied in a weekly group lesson where students work together on songwriting exercises and lyrical workshops.  Every few months, Songwriting students take the stage to perform or band together to record their original songs.

The Path to Take the Stage

Our Songwriting program for kids and teens in is designed to create musical proficiency through the creation of original music. Students at School of Rock Delco who have completed our Rock 101 program can move to our Songwriting program once they’re ready. Additionally, new students who have prior experience with and basic knowledge of an instrument can also begin Songwriting. The program culminates with a live showcase where students perform their original compositions in bands at a local music venue. Students taking the Songwriting Program online will remotely record their original songs to produce a demo of the class's music.

At School of Rock Delco, our students can take online, one-on-one music instruction from the comfort of their homes. We call this program School of Rock Remote. This online music program contains weekly one-on-one instruction conducted by our expert School of Rock instructors in a safe virtual lesson room.
 
Students will receive their training using our proprietary education program, The School of Rock Method™, which couples live video lessons with our proprietary Method App™, SongFirst Approach™ and Method Books™.

School of Rock Delco's Adult Program is for students over 18 years old who are looking to either improve their musical proficiency or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private music lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student at School of Rock Delco is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to play at a live show in .

The School of Rock Delco House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to audition for a spot in School of Rock Delco's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at PA rock venues throughout the year.

The Path to Take the Stage

Performance is the core of School of Rock's educational approach. Therefore, we create additional opportunities for students to perform on stages throughout and the rest of PA. The House Band music program allows each school's most talented students the opportunity to join a band and play routinely in front of live audiences. Once a member, students will gain real music experience associated with gigging musicians and will become leaders and mentors inside the School of Rock community.

Age 17 and Under

The School of Rock AllStars Tour takes the very best students from around the world and sends them on a nationwide summer tour across the United States. Less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent School of Rock as an AllStar. All Performance Program students are eligible to audition for this prestigious program. The intensive audition process starts off with video submissions followed by live auditions. Once selected, AllStar students will have an authentic touring experience including traveling on a tour bus, doing tour publicity and starring in nightly performances at famous venues and festivals during a two-week tour.

Becoming an AllStar is the highest level of achievement for a School of Rock student. They play on legendary stages large and small, including The Knitting Factory, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Troubadour and Lollapalooza. AllStar students often go on to have accomplished careers in the music industry. Former AllStars have gone on to become touring artists, star in Broadway musicals, get signed to record deals, become finalists on talent competitions like "The Voice" and "American Idol" and have other notable roles in the music industry.

Introducing Jeff, a seasoned business professional with over 30 years of experience, formerly serving as the SVP of talent acquisition at ADP. For the last several years, he has successfully owned and operated his own talent consulting firm.

Jeff's connection to School of Rock runs deep. Inspired by the transformative impact that School of Rock had on his own children, he made it his mission to bring this music school to Media, PA. He resides in Downingtown, a testament to his commitment to positively impacting the lives of countless kids in Delaware County.

When Jeff isn't busy running the school, you'll find him actively immersed in the world of music. He's a true multi-instrumentalist, proficient in playing the guitar, bass, and keyboards. Assistant General Manager, Vocal Teacher
Dan is a professional vocalist and music coordinator originally from the Bucks County area. He has a vast background in vocal coaching, performance, and the music business.

Dan started his music career in high school with classical vocal training, as well as managing and performing in multiple different music groups. One of his biggest achievements was performing on the AMA Silver Tour in Europe, bringing music to many different parts of the globe. His love for music brought him to Berklee College of Music where he achieved a bachelor's degree in Music Business Management. During his time there he led two a cappella groups that both competed in the ICCA competition many times and received numerous awards.

After completing his undergrad, he spent a year in Nashville soaking in all things music. He spent time interning at Thirty Tigers as an Indie Record and Production Intern and developed his business, marketing, and sales skills at various sales firms.

Dan has since moved back to the Philadelphia area and has joined the School of Rock Delco team, filling the roles of Assistant General Manager and Vocal Instructor. He has a great love of working with kids and has a wealth of musical knowledge to share with them.

For over 26 years, Josh has been a dedicated drummer and boasts an impressive teaching background, with a decade of private music teaching experience. He has also directed bands for live performances and has spent two years teaching in public schools, catering to both elementary and high school students.

A proud graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Josh holds a bachelor's degree in drumset performance and a master's degree in the art of teaching. His commitment to music education and performance is a valuable asset to our School of Rock community. Join him on your musical journey today!

Ryan is your local music enthusiast hailing from the Philly suburbs. With a passion for music that was ignited at the age of 12 by legends like The Beatles, and Nirvana, and his very first Phish concert, Ryan picked up the guitar and drums, and soon after formed his first band with friends by the age of 14.

Ryan brought his musical talents back to the East Coast in 2018 after a decade of making music in the LA scene, where he dabbled in music licensing and publishing while gigging on the side. Ryan continues to play music and works at Swarthmore's music venue, WaR3house 3, helping with booking and production. Today, he is a vital part of the School of Rock Delco team.

Ryan is all about the guitar and drums, and he's ready to share his musical wisdom and expertise with School of Rock Delco students!

Little Wing and Rookies Director, Vocal Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Annette is School of Rock Delco’s Little Wing and Rookies Director. She is a dynamic professional with a diverse journey in music and youth development. She embarked on her musical voyage as a classical vocal performance student at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

In Los Angeles, Annette fully immersed herself in the music industry. Her roles included music management, talent scouting, in-studio vocal coaching, and active participation in record label A&R meetings.

Annette found her true passion working with inner-city kids at an overnight camp. This experience led her back to her roots in Philadelphia in 2018, where she spent a remarkable decade with the YMCA, ultimately earning the title of Advanced Director of Youth & Family Programming.

After a decade of transformative work, Annette decided to step back and savor precious moments with her own family for a few years. Now, her journey has converged with the School of Rock Delco team. With unyielding enthusiasm, she is eager to enrich her community by providing outstanding music education to young minds and fostering their artistic growth.

Patrick began playing the guitar at the age of 10, joined his first band at the age of 13, and has never looked back. After attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, Patrick began teaching professionally in 1999.

Patrick has been a full-time musician and teacher ever since, has toured the United States and Canada, and has been featured on numerous recordings by Philadelphia area artists.

Jason was taught how to play guitar starting at the age of 11. Once he turned 17, he was teaching himself new skills and techniques. He studied Music Education/Performance at Bucks County Community College and Montgomery County Community College.
In addition, he has also been a professional musician for more than 20 years. He’s performed live all over the country and many more places around the globe playing in more than 30 different bands and projects. He is very outgoing and loves to tailor fit his teaching style allowing him the flexibility to work with any skill level - beginner, intermediate, or advanced. He always aims to make sure each student is getting one-on-one attention at all times, and for them to get the best experience and outcome for each lesson.
Furthermore, he has taught ages 4 and up both in private lessons as well as in a class setting.

Hailing from Central Florida, Jeremy performed in multiple local indie rock, jam, and jazz-funk bands for nearly a decade before relocating to the greater Philadelphia area. Most recently he was a member of the southern New Jersey Dead and classic rock cover band The Jugband and continues to play drum set in several acoustic jazz groups.

In addition to playing and teaching multiple instruments, Jeremy is currently completing his certification to teach middle-grade math. As a drummer who loves rhythmic complexity, he finds it humorous that he can claim to teach math/rock. Laugh (or groan) with him if you want, but this math/rock teacher wants you to know that good drumming is always song first (with groove a close second).

Anna is a musician from Media, PA. After playing with various bands in the Philadelphia area from 2011-2019, she moved to Nashville, TN where she was and has remained an active touring and session guitarist. She is currently a nationally touring guitarist for Meg McRee and multiple other artists.

After a few years of living in Nashville, her musical journey has brought her back to PA and the School of Rock in Delco! Anna has a passion for teaching music and sharing her excitement for music in order to inspire the next generation of rock stars.

Fun fact: Anna is a HUGE Philly sports fan!

Dylan

Since age 7 when he was first introduced to The Beatles, Dylan has been learning everything he can about music in all its forms. Beginning with guitar instruction through a number of teachers, he eventually expanded out into piano, drums, folk instruments, cornet, to name a few. During his School of Rock days, he began teaching the younger students which sent him along his path into music education. He continued his education studying classical guitar at CUNY Hunter College, branching into jazz and classical performance on multiple instruments. Today, Dylan has begun his career in data science by day, but by night he continues to teach for the love of spreading the shredding to all he can.

Drew started playing drums in the fifth grade and never stopped. He started playing in bands when he was 15 while also playing in school band through high school.

Drew writes and records the drums for his songwriting project, Bug Heaven, for which he primarily sings and plays guitar. He is an avid concertgoer and has been since his early teen years. Drew listens to a variety of music but has always maintained a primary interest in guitar-driven rock/alternative/emo/hardcore/etc.

Brandon

Brandon was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, the birthplace of rock and roll. He has over a decade of experience playing piano, guitar, and drums. Brandon took a strong interest in studying music while in college, ranging from music theory to electronic music. He graduated with honors from Mercyhurst University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Brandon was in a Trans-Siberian Orchestra cover band for nine years where he played lead keys and guitar. A fun fact about Brandon is he dedicated 13 years to the United States Army, serving as an observer coach trainer and leading a training unit as its commander.

What I like about the program is that my kids LOVE it!

This is so different from the music lessons that existed when I was a kid. These kids are actually making music and learning to play as a band. The performances are so impressive, and watching the kids gain confidence and express themselves on stage is priceless.

The structure around how kids learn is amazing.

Taking lessons to learn an instrument is one thing, but learning how to be a part of a band is on another level. These kids are learning how to communicate, respect people and their opinions, and how to be accountable for themselves. It’s more than just music here.
