School of Rock Elk Grove is proud to announce its upcoming End-of-Season show

Elk Grove, CA – School of Rock Elk Grove is proud to announce its upcoming End-of-Season show. Over the course of two days in late September, fifteen bands will take the stage at an Elk Grove winery to show off all the hard work they’ve put in over the summer.

The show will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21 at South Slope Wines on Sheldon Road in Elk Grove. Shows will get underway at noon on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

This is the 25th season of School of Rock Elk Grove performances, a remarkable achievement in youth music education in the Elk Grove area. General Manager for the school Matt Stone attributes this longevity to the close ties developed with the community over the school’s eight years.

“Our community in Elk Grove is a very strong one, and it's an extremely positive and beneficial element to have,” said Stone. “It draws us closer together as a business, culture, and so much more.”

These End-of-Season shows feature two types of performance groups: “Rock 101” is made up of younger students, usually ages 7-11. They will be performing songs by power-pop bands from the ‘90s and 2000s.

Older students – ranging in age from 11-18 – will be performing music from a variety of artists like Pink Floyd and Gojira, as well as classic funk and ska bands.

“We have some groups that really call out fun themes, like our Best of Sacramento and Weird Girl Music. Our students really enjoy opportunities like that,” said Stone. “Best of Sac has been a popular theme and kids like to represent their territory!”

School of Rock students take individual lessons on traditional rock instruments like guitar and drums, but they also come together each week to learn how to play in a band with their peers. It’s what makes it such a special place. They spend months preparing rock songs, and shows like this one at South Slope Wines are where they get to step on stage and show off everything they’ve learned.

“Parents who watch their child doing what they do and get emotional watching...NOTHING BETTER! It proves that what we do works,” said Stone. “Those are my most favorite moments to watch.”

Performances are open to the public.
