School of Rock Elmhurst is growing rapidly, and so we're expanding our team! We're so excited to bring on these new teachers to help you ROCK OUT!

Welcome to the School of Rock team, Michael! Michael will teach guitar and bass on Mondays!

Michael Satarino is a multi-instrumentalist who’s spent decades perfecting his craft by playing in several rock bands and touring the country for decades!  Influenced by such neo-metal shredders as Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Steve Vai; Michael started by playing in several original rock bands from an early age - eventually opening for such legendary acts as Kansas and Jefferson Starship!  He eventually studied under Chicago Symphony Orchestra classic guitarist Jack Cecchini, and began to combine Jazz and Flamenco styles to his playing!  He now plays solo acoustic shows; combing originals, covers, and classic guitar instrumentals!  Michael can’t wait to pass his rock knowledge on to students of all ages!

Welcome to the School of Rock team, Alaska! Alaska will teach drums on Thursdays!

Alaska has been playing drums, performing, and writing music for 10 years. She’s played in many groups including marching band, jazz band, pep band, percussion ensemble, and most recently recorded a record with Scarlet Demore. Music has taken her across the US, in addition to touring Spain in high school. She also works as a music director, a DJ, and is currently finding herself as a solo artist. Alaska is very excited to pass on the knowledge she has learned in her short time in the music industry. She emphasizes discipline, and steady practice in her lessons but most of all having fun, and catering to each student's individual wants and needs.

Welcome to the School of Rock team, Jameson! Jameson will teach guitar and bass on Thursdays!

Jameson Paul Ghalioungui is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, and is shown wailing at Schuba's Tavern in Chicago, IL (Photo by Emily Schwarz). When he is not writing or practicing with his band, Camp Edwards, he is often busy teaching and recording/mixing with other local acts. Beginning his journey just like many at School of Rock, Jameson thoroughly enjoys expressing himself as a guitarist, and hopes to pass down his knowledge and expertise on and off the stage to his students. His experience majoring in Music at Beloit College showed him that there are many lenses by which to view the act of "musicking," (an idea coined by Musicologist, Christopher Small), and he cannot wait to share his approaches with you.

Welcome to the School of Rock team, Joe! Joe will teach guitar and drums!

Joe began playing drums at the age of 12 after being inspired by Nirvana's Dave Grohl and Black Sabbath's Bill Ward. He has consistently played live shows since 2006.  Originally from the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Joe lived and performed frequently in Central Illinois, with bands such as Werepire Day and Reduced to Instinct. He also performed with indie-pop band Alex and the XO's for four years, which included several national tours, television appearances, and two records. Now based in Chicago, Joe performs as a founding member of hardcore punk band Snuffed. Outside of drumming, Joe also plays guitar, bass, and produces demo recordings of his own bands and solo projects. Joe believes in the importance of good instruction as a means to fully comprehend proper technique, and believes that teaching will help improve his own playing as well as his students'.

And announcing our Fall season performance program themes!

Sign-ups are now open for our fall season, which starts the first week of October and concludes with a show on January 29th!  Check out the themes below!

Performance Program is a unique combination of private and group lessons which offers students the opportunity to apply every concept they learn in their private lesson into a real Rock-n-Roll setting; essentially connecting the dots from the practice room, to full band rehearsals, and finally up to the stage at some of Chicago's best rock clubs! This program is for students 12-18 years old, who have some experience.

Not sure which program is the best fit for your child? Give us a call at 630-750-7625 and we'll give you a recommendation!

The Smashing Pumpkins

Hailing from Chicago, the fabled "city by the lake", The Pumpkins are one of the defining bands of the 90's!  Combining a barreling rhythm section with fuzzy guitar acrobatics, and throwing in incredibly distinctive vocal delivery, the power of the Pumpkins are something to behold!

The Ramones

Few bands have changed the course of rock history more than New York City's own Ramones!  A bunch of sum bum kids got their best leather jackets and ripped jeans on, and took the coolest power chords you could shake a stick at, and influenced all bands since!  In the Ramones show, students will learn how to play fast, hard, and as fun as it gets!

Queen

You know the songs, you know the hooks, and now's the time to learn how to play them!  Queen is one of the most popular bands of all time, with one of the most iconic frontmen in rock history!  But beyond Freddy Mercury's awe-inspiring vocal and keys prowess you'll discover a really groovy rhythm section and a lead guitarist that combines flash and fundamentals!

Radiohead

There are very few bands that have managed to climb the charts and back arenas while being as idiosyncratic and trailblazing as Radiohead!  Thom Yorke's virtuoso vocals led a band where guitar range from shredding to experimental noise, keyboards that draw from classical piano and synthwave in equal measures, and a surprisingly funky rhythm section!
