Art of the Jam Workshop
Give your musician their first step into improvisation with our Art of the Jam Workshop, happening Monday, February 16th from 12:00-2:30 PM at School of Rock Highland Heights!
Designed for instrumental students ages 9-18, this introductory workshop teaches the fundamentals of jamming, which is one of the most important skills for musicians to develop. Many of the world’s best players sharpened their chops by playing with others, and this workshop shows students how to do just that in a supportive, guided environment.
During the workshop, students will build confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills while learning how to contribute meaningfully to an improvised performance. They’ll gain a clearer understanding of their role within a band and how musicians communicate beyond just notes on a page.
What Students Will Learn:
- How to prepare for a jam session
- Exploring different musical styles and how to apply them
- Identifying song keys and common chord progressions
- Dynamics, communication, and listening skills
- The power of body language when playing with others
Please note: This workshop is for instrumentalists only and is not open to vocalists.
