Students have a weekly one-hour group lesson to learn about various rock instruments (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals), ear training, song structure, and rhythmic patterns within a group setting. In the Anti-Everything show, we’re bringing together the most unapologetic voices in music. Every decade has faced its own unique social challenges, and music has always served as both an outlet for expression and a catalyst for change. The artists featured in this show have brought awareness to the masses through music, and this show puts their voices front and center.
Anti-Everything celebrates the spirit of defiance through artists such as Rage Against the Machine, Dead Kennedys, Beastie Boys, and The Clash, as well as The Who, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, and Marvin Gaye. With a line-up including rock, punk, metal, funk, and reggae, players can expect a wide variety of genres. Anti-Everything is musically varied, offering a chance to grow for all instruments and playing levels, unified with an appetite for change!
one-hit wonders (6:45 - 8:45 PM) | main performance program
A “One-Hit Wonder” is a musical act that registers on the Billboard Pop Top 40 chart just once in their career. There are also some '90s favorites such as Semisonic’s “Closing Time” and Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping”. While these artists might not be household names, the One Hit Wonders show presents a musical journey through some of Rock’s most infectiously memorable tunes. blues legends (5:00 - 7:30 PM) | main performance program
The Blues is a genre that transcends time and cultural boundaries, and has influenced, in some capacity, nearly every song that has come since its original inception. This show is a crash course in the great blues players, and shows how the torch was passed throughout the years. The Blues Legends show starts with the original blues pioneers, and evolves to the '80s blues revival and beyond. Traditional artists like Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, and Albert King will be showcased, along with more contemporary blues masters like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer, and Joe Bonamassa. Throughout the many changes in blues music over the years, it truly is music that will continue to stand the test of time. Blues Legends presents an ambitious challenge for students ready to dial in and take their skills to the next level.
