Summer 2025 Shows

Summer is better with music! Learn, play, and rock out all season long at School of Rock. Our summer season will begin in June and performances will take place at the end of September. Check out the full desciptions of our main performance themes as well as the full rehearsal schedule below.

Mondays

Rock 101 (5:00-6:30 PM)

Rock 101 is our beginner performance program for students 7-12 years old. Learn how to work with a band and have fun doing it! This is our first day/time option for Rock 101.

Opening Act (6:30-8:00 PM)

Opening Act is our performance program for beginning teens. Develop your chops alongside other beginners your age while learning classic songs and techniques.

Rock Rookies (6:45-7:45 PM)

Students (7 and 8) in Rock Rookies learn about various rock instruments (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals), ear training, song structuring, and rhythmic patterns within a group setting. Most kids are still discovering their instrument preference at this stage, and we provide the perfect environment to explore different options. This is our first day/time option for Rock Rookies.

TUESDAYS

Ac/DC (4:30-6:30 PM)

Few rock bands have had the longevity and commercial success of AC/DC. Formed in Sydney, Australia, in the early '70s, the band - led by guitarist brothers Angus and Malcolm Young - quickly began their rise to Hard Rock’ superstardom with the release of their albums High Voltage, T.N.T., and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. With Bon Scott at the vocal helm, AC/DC gained world-wide fame. After Scott’s untimely passing in 1980, Brian Johnson took over as vocalist and recorded one of the greatest, most influential albums in modern rock: Back In Black, featuring classic songs like “Hells Bells”, “You Shook Me All Night Long”, “Shoot To Thrill”, and of course “Back In Black”. After almost 50 years, AC/DC continues to be a favorite band for generations of fans.

This is a perfect show for budding lead guitarists and vocalists, and also provides valuable lessons for bassists and drummers on playing tight grooves in the service of the song. For beginner and intermediate students looking to take their playing to the next level, the AC/DC show is the one!

Red hot chili peppers (6:45-8:45 PM)

Few bands blend funk, punk, and rock as seamlessly as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, the band quickly made a name for themselves with their explosive energy, genre-bending sound, and electrifying stage presence. With Anthony Kiedis’s rapid-fire, melodic vocal style, Flea’s innovative, slap-heavy bass lines, John Frusciante’s expressive, effects-driven guitar work, and Chad Smith’s tight, funk-influenced drumming, the Chili Peppers created a sound that was entirely their own. Albums like BSSM, Californication, and By the Way showcase the band’s dynamic range—from high-octane funk rock to introspective ballads. This show offers guitarists a chance to explore creative chord voicings and rhythmic strumming, while bassists dive into groove-heavy lines that sit front and center in the mix. Drummers will develop skills in syncopation and pocket playing, and vocalists will work on both rapid phrasing and melodic control. For students ready to bring serious energy and groove to their playing, the Red Hot Chili Peppers show is a must!

Wednesdays

drum core (5:30-6:30 PM)

Drum Core is our program specially designed for kids ages 8-11 with no prior drumming experience. This foundational program is the perfect starting point for aspiring young drummers and teaches essential skills to help students play drums confidently in a live-band setting, paving the way for a smooth transition into our Rock 101 program and beyond!

Best of the 2010's (5:00-7:00 PM)

School of Rock pays tribute to the past decade of Rock and Roll! The 2010s proved that rock and roll is alive and well, with diverse artists such as Adele, Imagine Dragons, Tame Impala, H.E.R., and St. Vincent all rising to prominence in the music world. These current artists combine modern production techniques with retro-sounding riffs and song structures, resulting in today's chart topping hits. While the music itself has generally evolved somewhat from decades past - less guitar solos, more keyboards, and more influence from Hip Hop and R&B - the spirit of Rock and Roll remains as vital as ever. This show will be a stylistically diverse recap of the best music from the decade, featuring modern takes on Punk (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), Blues (Gary Clark Jr., Black Keys), Pop (Taylor Swift, Katy Perry), Rock and Roll (Greta Van Fleet, The Dead Weather), and more! A great show for students of any instrument and experience level.

THursdays

Rock 101 (5:00-6:30 PM)

This is our second day/time option for Rock 101 (ages 7-12).

Paramore (5:00-7:00 PM)

Paramore exploded onto the scene in the mid-2000s with a fierce mix of pop-punk intensity, emo vulnerability, and alt-rock flair. Led by powerhouse vocalist Hayley Williams, the band quickly rose to fame with emotionally charged hits like “Misery Business,” “That’s What You Get,” “Decode,” and “Ain’t It Fun.”

Known for their dynamic songwriting and explosive performances, Paramore’s music challenges players across all instruments. Guitarists will tackle intricate riffs, palm-muted rhythms, and melodic lead lines. Bassists will navigate punchy, driving grooves that lock in with the drums while adding melodic flair. Drummers will sharpen their skills with energetic, syncopated patterns and quick transitions. Vocalists will work on range, stamina, and emotional control, delivering powerful performances from verse to chorus. Keyboardists will explore layered synths, atmospheric textures, and piano lines that add emotional depth and energy to the band’s evolving sound. With complex arrangements, shifting dynamics, and high-energy execution, Paramore is an ideal show for intermediate to advanced students ready to elevate their performance, tighten their ensemble playing, and bring serious emotion to the stage.

saturdays

Rock Rookies (10:30-11:30 AM)

This is 2nd first day/time option for Rock Rookies (ages 7-8).

Rock 101 (10:30 AM-12:00 PM)

This is our third day/time option for Rock 101 (ages 7-12).

Punk (12:45-2:45 PM)

Punk Rock rose to popularity as a rebellious response to the overcomplicated, pretentious direction that Prog Rock had taken in the 1970s, and as a voice for the anti-establishment movement following the post-Vietnam era. Marked by short, energetic songs with little ornamentation, Punk Rock is more about spirit and feeling than musical technique. This show covers the classic period of the genre, including bands like Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, Blondie, The Stooges, and Patti Smith. Students might hear striking similarities of styles to current Pop Punk bands like Green Day and My Chemical Romance, as the legacy of the original generation of Punk bands continues to inspire artists today. While Punk is a great show for less experienced rockers, it still challenges more advanced students and teaches them the art of showmanship and stage presence. Don your spikes, mohawk, and ripped jeans and get ready for a season of Punk Rock!
