SUMMER PERFORMANCE THEMES ANNOUNCED!

Enrollment has started for our summer/fall performance season!

Performance Program - School of Rock’s Flagship Program - is a unique combination of private and group lessons which offers students the opportunity to apply every concept they learn in their private lesson into a real rock n roll setting; essentially connecting the dots from the practice room, to full band rehearsals, and finally up to the stage at some of Chicago's best rock clubs! Our students have performed at Lincoln Hall, Double Door, Schubas, & The Empty Bottle, among countless other amazing venues. Each season, we offer a variety of amazing performance group themes (i.e. the music of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, HeavyMetal, etc… ) from which students are able to select their group. Click HERE for some photos of our past performances! Tuition for this program is $354/month and includes a weekly 45 minute private lesson as well as a weekly group rehearsal that runs 2 hours and 15 minutes. You would be billed on a recurring monthly basis and you could cancel anytime during the current month for the following month. However, we ask that once you commit to a season, you stay until the final performance.

And now, for our themes!

New York City has provided the backdrop for many of the greatest movements in modern music. It is home to Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, the Apollo Theater, and the Juilliard School. New York was also home to CBGB and Studio 54. The city is a true melting pot, with a diverse range of cultural influences on art and expression. Bands like The Strokes, Talking Heads, Ramones and Kiss, to name a few, have all been instrumental in the evolution of the New York Music scene.

San Francisco is rich with music history. Jazz, punk and rock music all have deep roots in the city. You may know famous San Francisco artists like the Grateful Dead, Journey and equally famous residents like Janis Joplin. But, other popular bands got their start in the city by the bay as well. Referred to as “The Liverpool of the United States” for the city’s serious contribution to musical history. Artists like Sly And The Family Stone, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Santana all helped cultivate the San Francisco sound. This show offers plenty of variety for students at every level.

The list of cities that have spawned a musical genre is very short.  "Grunge"- a dark, murky hybrid of heavy metal and punk peppered with bohemian lifestyle- ushered Rock music away from the flashy excess of the 80’s.  While Seattle is certainly most famous for grunge, artists like Heart, Jim Hendrix, Band Of Horses, and Macklemore have called the city home.  This show will be diverse and will offer great challenges for any player.  Bring your flannel, leather boots, ripped jeans, angst, and strong coffee!

First Rehearsal: Wednesday, June 15th

The 2000s have also seen many bands from the Chicago area attain national success, including Disturbed, Fall Out Boy, The Plain White T’s and Ok Go.
