Guitar setups are expensive and the best guitar players know how to do the work themselves! Get to know your instrument at this amazing workshop where we'll learn how to change our guitar and bass strings, give our instrument a good clean-up, and learn some basic setup and minor repairs. As a participant in this workshop, your new strings are on us! Get your guitar or bass ready for the final show and join us! Great for students 10-18 years old, beginners, intermediate or advanced!
What to expect
- Workshop runs from 10am-2pm with a short lunch break
- Students should bring a water bottle and a packed lunch (no nuts please)
- Students may bring their own guitar/bass or work with one of our school instruments
- All gear will be restrung with strings included in your purchase of the workshop and gear will be cleaned with an approved instrument cleaning kit
- Students will learn a basic guitar setup (often costing $45 at local guitar shops!) as well as minor guitar repairs

Q: DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN INSTRUMENT?
A: Provided Guitar & Basses are limited, players are encouraged to bring their own instruments
Q: DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH AND SNACKS?
A: Each student should bring a water bottle and a packed lunch.
Q: CAN I SEND TREATS TO SHARE WITH THE OTHER STUDENTS?
A: This is a nice idea, but we want to avoid contact with any allergies or possible airborne allergens.
Q: WHAT AGES OF STUDENTS ATTEND THE WORKSHOP? WILL THERE BE SOMEONE CLOSE TO MY CHILD’S AGE?
A: Workshops range from 10 - 18 years old. We believe that students should gain experience learning and interacting with students of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Q: WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS/STAFF?
A: Our instructors are real working, professional musicians. Every instructor has cleared a background check and is trained to work with students in the appropriate age range for each workshop. We also maintain a 6:1 student-to-staff ratio during each workshop.
Q: WHAT ARE SOME THINGS NOT TO BRING TO THE WORKSHOP?
A: Students shouldn’t bring any toys, trading cards, dolls, personal gaming devices, etc. Anything that might distract them should stay at home. We do not take responsibility for any broken or lost items. Cell phones are collected at the beginning of each day and placed securely in a locked box.
Q: WHAT ARE YOUR DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP POLICIES?
A: Please drop-off between no earlier than 9:55am, and pick-up at 2:05pm at the latest.
Q: WHAT IS THE WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY?
A: A 50% refund will be offered on workshops cancelled 10 days prior to the start. Workshops cancelled less than 9 days from the start will not be refunded. Please contact School of Rock Katy with any questions.
