Ian M.
Drums Teacher
Ian has been playing the drums for more than 25 years in the Sacramento area. His love for the instrument began at a young age after seeing the film “That Thing You Do!” and discovering punk rock around the same time. He has studied under Tony Dey (Van Morrison, Stone Ponies), toured North America in both a drum corps and a hardcore punk band, and participated in dozens of recording sessions.
Currently, Ian plays in the indie rock trio Vinnie Guidera & the Dead Birds and occasionally with the Emo Night Tour, and teaches at School of Rock Land Park.
Talen A.
Vocals Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Talen Andersen is a NorCal native with a passion for sharing the joys of music with others. He has been performing for as long as he can remember, and has performed throughout the state, both as a solo artist and in various groups, across a range of musical styles. He has nearly a decade of experience as a music educator, both in the classroom and in private lessons. Highlights of his career include singing the national anthem for the Sacramento Kings, singing backup for the Four Phantoms, and recording multiple choral albums at Skywalker Sound.
His goal for his students at School of Rock Land Park is to find the joy in the process and understand the connection between the theoretical and emotional elements of music performance.
Rob W.
Guitar Teacher
Rob "The Alien" has over nine years' experience mastering the guitar. Metal and classic rock are his favorite, with his main inspiration coming from the iconic Randy Rhoads.
His teaching mission at School of Rock Land Park is to inspire the hearts of musicians like him when he was an inspired novice.
Logan S
Bass Guitar Teacher
Logan is a seasoned bass guitar player with a wealth of experience gigging in original bands over the years covering rock, pop punk, and emo. When not teaching at School of Rock Land Park, Logan also works building guitars for a local custom guitar shop. His influences are Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Saosin, and Emery.
Lyss H.
Assistant General Manager
As a drummer, Lyss knows firsthand how transformative music can be, especially when students feel supported and empowered. She is passionate about creating a space for students to be themselves, grow their confidence, and find their voice on and off stage.
When she is not helping families and students find their perfect program here at School of Rock Land Park, you will find her playing locally in bands, championing young artists, or coming up with new way to make the school feel like home.
Jrue J.
Little Wing Teacher, Rookies Teacher
Jrue is a passionate music educator with over two decades of experience in performance, education, and music/audio engineering. Originally from New Zealand, he brings a relaxed, culturally rooted approach that encourages creativity, rhythm, and playful learning.
A multi-instrumentalist, Jrue believes music is a language we all speak—whether we are wise to the theory or not. He sees teaching as a two-way exchange, where curiosity, rhythm, and creativity flow between student and teacher in ways that are both engaging and enlightening.
Jrue leads the Rookies and Little Wing programs at School of Rock Land Park, while also supporting students, bands, and fellow instructors across the school. Outside the studio, he's a father of four and a lifelong learner, always exploring new ways to grow — in music and life.
Jennah H.
Studio Coordinator
Jennah grew up in a very creative and musical family so art and music have always been a focal point in her personal life. Being creative has always helped her stay motivated especially in her early adult life. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Technical Communications and worked a variety of jobs ranging from a custom framing store, to a barista, to working in a children's science museum before finding her current position as a Studio Coordinator at School of Rock Land Park. She's loving that life is even more immersed in music than ever before!

Tyler Ferris is a self-taught musician-turned Sacramento City College music major. They are currently pursuing an AA in commercial music and getting ready to release two new studio albums with their two bands.
Tyler’s four years of teaching experience come from places such as Guitar Center and GIRLS Rock Sacramento before finally joining School of Rock Land Park. Their career highlights include opening for The Offspring and touring the country with their band.
Tyler loves teaching because music is the most enriching and satisfying part of their life and they want to help others experience that same enrichment and success for themselves.
Veah D.
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Vocal Teacher
Veah Davis hails from an enthusiastic musical upbringing, dabbling in music of all kind with all types of people, but her primaries are vocals and keyboard + piano. She began teaching when she was 14 (to her chagrin and only at the request of her orchestra director), but she wouldn’t have it any other way. If she’s not teaching at School of Rock Land Park, then she’s either hosting jams or off in a book somewhere.
Mark P.
Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher, Keyboard + Piano Teacher
Mark started music at six years old. He studied classical piano for six years before transitioning to guitar. He’s studied a variety of genres but focuses mainly on progressive rock and metal. He also was a member of his marching band and drumline in high school doing percussion. He wants to give back to young musicians at School of Rock Land Park like his music teachers did for him.
