School of Rock Vancouver is expanding to Langley, and we are looking for a talented, high-energy music educator to join our amazing team in a unique hybrid role! This position combines music instruction, event support, and structured training to become the Summer Camp Director for our new Langley location.

ROLE OVERVIEW
Wage: $20-$29 / hr
This role is structured in phases:
March to June (Training Phase):
Based out of our Vancouver location, training as a Music Instructor and Camp Director, while supporting community events and house band performances across Vancouver, Langley, and Abbotsford.
July to August (Summer Camp Director – Langley):
Full-time Summer Camp Director at the new Langley location, Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00am to 4:00pm. Full commitment is required during these months. Time off during the summer camp season is not possible.
September onward:
Transition into a Music Instructor role at the Langley location.This is an entirely in-person role. No remote work is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Music Instruction and Training (March onward)
- Deliver private music lessons using the School of Rock Method, Method Books, and Method App
- Teach beginner to advanced students across multiple instruments
- Document lesson plans and student progress in School of Rock systems before and after each lesson or rehearsal
- Ensure students are learning core musical fundamentals, not just songs
- Communicate regularly with parents and administrative staff
- Participate in rehearsals, shows, meetings, and required training
- Assist with general school operations during canceled lessons or downtime
- Adhere to all School of Rock safety policies and Code of Conduct
- Other duties as required to support the school, General Manager, Music Director and Studio Coordinators
- This position is intended for multi-instrumentalist instructors who can teach at least three core instruments (guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys) at varying skill levels.
Community Events and Outreach (March trough June)
During training and the spring season, this role will actively support School of Rock’s presence at community events, festivals, and performances across Vancouver, Langley, and Abbotsford.
Responsibilities include:
- Setting up and tearing down booths and interactive music activations
- Working hands-on with kids at events, letting them try instruments
- Talking with parents about School of Rock programs and answering questions, taking leads and sign-ups
- Assisting with audio, backline, staging, and gear setup for house band performances and events
- Supporting on-site logistics, crowd flow, and student engagement
- Other duties as assigned
- Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel locally are required.
Summer Camp Director Responsibilities (July and August – Langley)
As Summer Camp Director, you will be responsible for the full execution of School of Rock summer camps at the Langley location.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and directing week-long music camps in collaboration with the Music Director
- Selecting songs and casting students based on skill and ability
- Creating and managing detailed daily schedules
- Leading instructors and guiding rehearsals
- Supporting students of varying ages, skill levels, and personalities
- Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and structured camp environment
- Monitoring student behaviour and escalating issues to management when required
- Sending daily parent updates through Pike13
- Keeping notes on camper progress and feedback
- Organizing and hosting the end-of-week live performance, including set lists, gear needs, stage management, and audience engagement
- Opening and closing the school and related tasks
- Helping excite new students about continuing with School of Rock programs after camp
- Other duties as assigned
- This role requires consistency, leadership, organization, and a strong on-site presence throughout each camp week.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a musician, performer, and/or instructor
- Ability to teach at least three core instruments at beginner to advanced levels
- Diploma or degree in music or music theory from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Previous experience directing shows or camps is a strong asset
- Experience working with youth
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Patient, positive, energetic, and professional demeanor
- Comfortable leading groups and working in busy, high-energy environments
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel locally for events and performances throughout Vancouver, Langley and Abbotsford
- Clean criminal record background check required as a condition of employment
- First Aid certification is required as a condition of employment
Scheduling and Commitment
- March through June: Part-time, variable hours, primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends, based out of Vancouver
- Fully available for Spring Camps at the Vancouver location Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, March 16 to April 3
- July and August: Full-time Summer Camp Director in Langley, Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00am to 4:00pm. Full availability is required during this period
- September onward: Transition to Music Instructor role in Langley with part-time or variable hours
- Shifts and hours may vary depending on lesson schedules, camps, and events.
