SPRING SHOWS IN FULL BLOOM!
If you've walked past a rehearsal room at School of Rock Madison lately, you already know this season is a fun one. Every season at School of Rock is built around one big idea: the best way to learn music is to play it with other people. Students rehearse together every week, learning real songs from legendary artists while figuring out how to listen, collaborate, and build something together as a band.
OUR METHOD!
Our Performance Program is what School of Rock is all about! Students are placed in shows and assigned songs to build musical proficiency. The student and the instructor work on individual parts in private lessons, and bring the songs back to the group rehearsal, where they learn about teamwork, collaboration, and playing in a band. This all culminates with an week of mid season shows, leading up to the big end-of-season performance at Space Ballroom in Hamden, CT on Sunday June 21, 2026. Signups for our new season are moving along!
MID SEASON SHOWS ARE BACK! ALL WEEK LONG DURING THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL. MORE DETAILS BELOW!
SPRING PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS
OZZY TRIBUTE
AGES 10-18 | MONDAYS 6-8PM
Celebrate the life and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne with an epic tribute to his music and influence on rock history. Students will dive into his iconic catalog, exploring the heavy riffs, soaring solos, and unforgettable hooks that made Ozzy a legend. Guitarists will tackle signature riffs and expressive lead lines, bassists will lock in on thunderous grooves, drummers will command the power and dynamics of classic metal beats, and keyboardists will add atmosphere and texture to the sound. Vocalists will channel Ozzy’s distinctive voice, capturing both his raw energy and emotive presence. This show gives every musician a chance to honor a rock icon while sharpening their skills and performing with true legendary spirit.
Y2K!
AGES 10-18 | TUESDAYS 6-8PM
Yes… we went full early-2000s for this one. Our Y2K show celebrates the flashy pop and dance-driven music of the early 2000s, featuring artists like Britney Spears, NSYNC, and Avril Lavigne! This band has been working on everything from tight rhythm grooves to vocal harmonies and stage presence. It’s upbeat, it’s nostalgic, and honestly it’s been one of the most fun rehearsals to walk into each week.
PROG(RESSIVE) ROCK*
AGES 10-18 | WEDNESDAYS 6-8PM
This is easily our most advanced show of the season, and the students in this band did NOT come to mess around! The Progressive Rock group is taking on music inspired by artists like Pink Floyd, Tool, and King Crimson. These songs are complex, dynamic, and full of musical twists and turns. Those drummers have been crunching those numbers, our guitarists are navigating some wild riffs and solos, and the whole band has to stay incredibly locked in together. It’s challenging music, but watching students pull it off is one of the most rewarding parts of the season.
FLEETWOOD MAC VS HEART
AGES 10-18 | THURSDAYS 6-8PM
Two absolute legends of rock collab in this show featuring music from Fleetwood Mac and Heart. This band has been digging into powerful vocals, soaring guitar parts, and some seriously beautiful harmonies. These songs demand a lot emotionally and musically, and the students have been rising to the challenge in a big way.
GRUNGE (2)
AGES 13-18 | FRIDAYS 6-8PM
If you hear distorted guitars and someone yelling down the hallway… that’s probably the Grunge band. (Or our General Manager Marina giving a school tour!) Our Grunge band taps into the raw emotion and gritty sound that defined the 1990s alternative rock explosion. Students perform music inspired by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Hole, and Alice in Chains.
*BRITISH INVASION
AGES 8-18 | *SATURDAYS 9-11AM
Our British Invasion band is diving into the explosion of music that came out of the UK in the 1960s. Students are tackling songs inspired by bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. This show is all about great songwriting, tight rhythm sections, and those iconic vocal harmonies that helped shape modern rock music. The students have been learning how deceptively tricky these songs can be, and how much energy it takes to really bring them to life.
*HOUSEBAND | AGES 12-18 | SATURDAYS 11-1PM
The School of Rock Madison House Band music program gives students under 18 the opportunity to join a gigging band composed of fellow musicians from their school. These students perform additional live shows throughout the year. All students in the Performance Program have the opportunity to *audition for a spot in School of Rock Madison's House Band. Once selected, House Band members become leaders in their School of Rock community and perform live shows at CT rock venues throughout the year.*
A 'Mid season show week' will showcase all performance program rehearsals during the regular hours of their rehearsal, with a special Houseband show to finish off the week! This show will have FOUR songs from the Summer bands we will be dropping to everyone officially on Monday, May 5, 2026!
MID SEASON SHOW WEEK IS COMING UP!
Before the big June concert, though, we’ve got one of our favorite new traditions of the season: Mid-Season Show Week.
During the last week of April, families are invited to come hang out and watch each band perform a short set during their normal rehearsal time. It’s a little more casual than the final show, but it gives everyone a chance to see what the students have been building together so far!

Space Ballroom on June 21st
The venue offers a true concert experience with stage lighting, professional sound, seating for families, and standing room for fans who want to dance like it’s a real rock show. Where It All Starts: Rookies and Rock 101
Of course, not every student starts out playing prog rock or metal.
ROOKIES | AGES 4-7 | WED 5-6 & FRIDAYS 4-5PM
Our Rookies program introduces younger students (ages 4–7) to rhythm, musical basics, and different instruments in a fun, exploratory setting. It’s where a lot of our youngest musicians discover what they love to play. We have weekly Rookies classes and week long half day rookies camps!
ROCK101 | AGES 6-10 | MONDAYS 4:30-6 & THURSDAY 4:15-5:45
From there, many students move into Rock 101, where they start rehearsing simplified rock songs together as a band. For a lot of students, Rock 101 is the moment where things really click, they realize they’re not just learning an instrument anymore. They’re in a band. NEXT STOP: PERFORMANCE PROGRAM!
