SPRING 2025 SHOWS NOW ENROLLING!

SPRING SHOWS IN FULL BLOOM!

Our Performance Program is what School of Rock is all about! Students are placed in shows and assigned songs to build musical proficiency. The student and the instructor work on individual parts in private lessons, and bring the songs back to the group rehearsal, where they learn about teamwork, collaboration, and playing in a band.  This all culminates with an end-of-season performance at Space Ballroom in Hamden, CT.  Signups for our new season are moving along!

OUR NEW SEASON STARTS THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 3RD! WE'VE GOT OPEN SPOTS IN ROOKIES, ROCK101, AC/DC VS ZEPPELIN, CHART TOPPERS, AND THREEMO!

ROOKIES
AGES 4-7 | WED & THURS 5-6PM | FRIDAYS 4-5PM

Rookies is a music program designed for children (typically 4 to 6-year-olds) with no previous musical experience. As with all our music programs, Rookies adheres to the patented School of Rock Method. Our Method's core philosophy is that performance-based music education is the best way for students to gain musical proficiency. Rookies students have one weekly group music lesson where they learn music fundamentals like chords, rhythm and song structure. Kids get to learn and experiment with multiple instruments so they are then able to decide which one they ultimately want to continue pursuing in Rock 101.

ROCK101
AGES 6-10 | MONDAYS 4:15-5:45

Rock 101 is one of School of Rock’s major programs for kids and beginners. The patented School of Rock Method combines our core philosophy of performance-based music education with a unique curriculum designed for kids with no previous musical experience. Students have one weekly group rehearsal where they learn classic rock songs that have been simplified specifically for beginner musicians. These rehearsals get young musicians to learn the fundamentals of their instrument while playing with a band in a positive and fun atmosphere. Students also have a weekly private music lesson with an instructor who will help them rehearse performance songs while teaching them foundational music skills and concepts.

THREEMO
AGES 10-18 | MONDAYS 6-8PM | STARTING FEB 3RD

Our third installment of our incredibly popular Emo Show! In the 1990s, artists such as Green Day, Offspring, and Blink-182 achieved success by blending punk attitudes and influences with a more polished, melodic, commercially appealing sound than their often raw predecessors. By the 2000s, Pop Punk and its Emo offshoot (featuring lyrics that touch on emotional and confessional topics) were fully entrenched in the mainstream music world, with bands such as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At the Disco topping the charts and selling out arenas. Of course, this music is still incredibly popular and influential today. A fun show that can be musically challenging but also teaches solid fundamental skills, Pop Punk & Emo is sure to appeal to all levels of students and will entertain any crowd!

CHART TOPPERS
AGES 10-18 | TUESDAYS 6-8PM | STARTING FEB 4TH

Before there was Rock and Roll, there was Pop. Short for Popular, Pop music was whatever was popular at that moment.  The Pop Legends show will celebrate the impact that acclaimed artists have made on the music industry.  It will encompass a vast timeline of Pop Music ranging from the 60s through today, including artists such as Carol King, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Adele and many more. This show is a great challenge for “Rock” guitar players who want to work on new chord shapes and voicings. Bass players will be able to work on very challenging melodic parts in support of drummers who will learn limb independence on many of the parts. Vocalists’ skills will be pushed with the level of singing and performing required in this show, while keyboardists will be heavily represented in these well-known arrangements.

WEEZER VS FOO FIGHTERS
AGES 10-18 | WEDNESDAYS 6-8PM | STARTING FEB 5TH

Get Weezered!  This show will focus on two powerhouse 90’s bands that are still super relevant today!  This show is a great option for a first show on any instrument, but is also an excellent option for more experienced players to take on a solid lead role.  This show is a great history lesson in the direction of mainstream rock music after Nirvana completely changed the landscape, and can be a gateway into many alternative bands like Bush, 3 Days Grace, Stone Temple Pilots and many more.  Students will use classic songs like “Everlong,” “Say it Ain’t So,” “My Hero,” “Buddy Holly,” as a scaffolding to hone their technique.  Killer stage presence is a must for this show!

DAVID BOWIE VS QUEEN
AGES 10-18 | THURSDAYS 6-8PM | STARTING  FEB 6TH

Two of the most commercially successful acts of all time, Queen and David Bowie both served to push mainstream music both artistically and socially.  This show is more difficult than it may initially seem, with plenty of killer parts on all instruments.  Keyboardists and vocalists will be especially challenged, with many songs containing advanced vocal harmonies and virtuosic piano sections.  Students will explore how famous songs such as “Rebel Rebel” “Killer Queen,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “Under Pressure” pull from many different styles new and old in order to create something completely unique.

AC/DC VS LED ZEPPELIN
AGES 13-18 | FRIDAYS 6-8PM | STARTING FEB 7TH

Few bands have shaped the landscape of rock music like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin, each carving out a unique legacy within the Hard Rock genre. AC/DC, formed in Sydney in the early 1970s by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, became known for their high-energy, riff-driven anthems like "Back in Black," "Hells Bells," and "You Shook Me All Night Long," offering budding lead guitarists and vocalists a chance to shine while teaching bassists and drummers the power of tight, groove-focused playing. Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin, led by Jimmy Page and featuring Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, fused Hard Rock, Blues, and Folk into a genre-defining sound with classics like "Stairway to Heaven," "Black Dog," and "Good Times Bad Times," challenging musicians with intricate rhythms, dynamic arrangements, and soaring vocals. Perfect for recent Rock 101 graduates, new students eager to dive into iconic material, and those seeking a rewarding challenge, this show provides a thrilling and comprehensive study of rock’s evolution, the perfect band from beginner to advanced.
