OZZFEST: A TRIBUTE TO OZZY OSBOURNE, Mondays 6-8pm

Get ready to go off the rails as our students pay homage to the Prince of Darkness himself — Ozzy Osbourne! From his groundbreaking work with Black Sabbath to his iconic solo career, Ozzy has shaped the sound of heavy metal for over five decades. This show will dive into his most legendary hits, blistering guitar riffs, and unforgettable stage energy, celebrating the man who brought us classics like Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, and Paranoid. Expect soaring vocals, thunderous rhythms, and a whole lot of rock ’n’ roll attitude as our students channel the spirit of one of music’s most legendary frontmen.

Radiohead, tuesdays 6-8pm

This show is a deep dive into the boundary-pushing world of Radiohead—one of the most innovative and influential bands of the past three decades. Known for constantly reinventing their sound, Radiohead blends rock, electronic, jazz, and classical influences into music that challenges both listeners and performers alike. From the haunting simplicity of "Creep" to the layered sonic landscapes of "Paranoid Android" and "Everything in Its Right Place", Radiohead teaches our students how to approach music with curiosity, emotion, and experimentation. These songs are full of unexpected chord progressions, shifting time signatures, textural dynamics, and subtle performance details that require precision, patience, and intention. Performing Radiohead gives students the opportunity to explore advanced composition, atmospheric playing, and emotional nuance—skills that go far beyond typical rock performance. It also encourages them to think like arrangers and sound designers, shaping not just parts, but entire moods. This is music that asks “What if?” and dares to answer in ways that are bold, strange, and beautiful. For young musicians, it’s an invitation to break the rules on purpose, and to grow not just as players—but as artists.

classic vs. modern metal, wednesdays 6-8pm

This set brings two generations of headbanging to the stage in a high-voltage showdown between classic metal legends and the modern metal powerhouses they inspired. It’s more than just distortion and volume—it’s a journey through the evolution of technique, tone, and attitude in one of rock’s most powerful genres. Classic metal icons like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest laid the foundation with thunderous riffs, soaring vocals, and groundbreaking guitar work. Their music teaches students the essentials of tight rhythm playing, dynamic solos, and epic storytelling, with an emphasis on precision, phrasing, and historical context. These songs demand discipline and showmanship—a must for any serious rocker. Modern metal bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, and Mastodon build on that legacy with complex rhythms, aggressive tones, and experimental structures. These tracks push our students to master odd time signatures, rapid tempo changes, extended techniques, and advanced coordination between instruments and vocals. It’s where technical skill meets raw intensity. By learning both styles, students gain a full-spectrum understanding of how metal has transformed across decades—from dark and doomy to fast and ferocious—while strengthening their speed, stamina, precision, and stage presence. This isn't just a concert—it's a battle of eras, and every song is a weapon.

rock 102: black keys vs. white stripes, wednesdays 4-6pm

This show is a stripped-down, fuzzed-out celebration of two of the most influential garage rock duos of the 21st century: The Black Keys and The White Stripes. With nothing but drums, guitar, and gritty vocals, these bands proved that you don’t need a full lineup to make a massive sound—just creativity, chemistry, and killer tone. The White Stripes, led by the unmistakable Jack White, are known for their minimalistic, blues-infused riffs, unpredictable song structures, and explosive energy. Playing their music challenges students to explore raw dynamics, expressive playing, and the power of restraint, where less is often more. The Black Keys bring a swampy, groove-heavy style rooted in traditional blues but infused with modern edge. Their songs offer students a deep dive into tight rhythm section interplay, tone crafting, and phrasing, encouraging them to listen closely and lock in. Both bands rely on feel over flash, demanding musicianship that is both intuitive and intentional. This set emphasizes the art of making a bold statement with just a few tools—perfect for sharpening timing, tone control, and musical connection on stage. It’s bluesy, it’s gritty, and it’s proof that two people can make a stadium shake.

rock 101: woodstock '69, mondays 3:30-4:15 or tuesdays 4:15-5:45

We’re turning back the clock to one of the most iconic music festivals in history—Woodstock 1969, where over 400,000 people gathered for three days of peace, music, and unforgettable performances. This show introduces our younger students to the legendary artists who helped shape modern rock, and the spirit of unity and creativity that defined a generation. With songs from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana, students will explore the roots of rock through classic melodies, soulful rhythms, and powerful grooves. These songs may sound simple on the surface, but they’re full of important lessons in feel, dynamics, and musical storytelling. Woodstock isn’t just about the music—it’s about collaboration, self-expression, and learning to listen. This set helps young musicians practice playing together as a team, building confidence on stage, and celebrating the joy of making music. From psychedelic jams to bluesy anthems, this show is all about fun, freedom, and finding your voice through rock ‘n’ roll.
