Workshop DESCRIPTION

Ear training, song structure, rhythm patterns and group playing are all part of this week-long introduction to music. In this music camp, students will learn about all the different rock instruments and begin their introduction to music theory and music appreciation. This camp is designed for 5 to 7-year-old students who have little to no experience with music. This five-day camp runs Monday through Friday 9am-12pm with a performance at the end of the last day.

Sample schedule for the week:

Monday (9am drop off, 12pm pick up)

9am-9:30am: Intro and Music Game

9:30am-10:30am: Start first project song

10:30-10:45am: Snack

10:45am-11:00am: Music Game

11:00-11:45am: Continue working on project song

11:45am-12:00pm: Clean up and Wrap up

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday  (9am drop off, 12pm pick up)

 9am-9:15am: Band meeting, go over plan for the day

9:15am-9:45am: Music Game

9:45am-10:30am:Review first project song, start second song

10:30am-10:45am: Snack

10:45am-11:15am: Music Game and Start Poster

11:15-11:45am: Continue working on project songs

11:45am-12pm: Clean up and wrap up 

Friday (9am drop off, 12PM PERFORMANCE) 

9am-9:15am: Band meeting, go over plan for the day

9:15am-9:45am: Music Game

9:45am-10:30am:Review first project song, start second song

10:30am-10:45am: Snack

10:45am-11:15am: Music Game and Finish Poster

11:15-11:45am: Continue working on project songs & soundcheck

11:45am-12:00pm: Cleanup and prep for show

12:00pm: Performance outside at SOR

What to expect:

Students attending Rookies camp can expect to work on a few project songs and getting to know music through beginner songs. However, they will also take some time to get to play games, make a poster, and it all culminates in a performance! 

At School of Rock, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. To help us maintain this space, we ask parents to avoid packing any nut products in lunches or snacks. We also prohibit any toy or real weapons from being brought to camp.

Our summer camp performances are held outdoors at School of Rock.
