School of Rock North Palm Beach Performance Program

2023 Performance Program Fall Show Themes!

THIS FALL IS GOING TO ROCK!

The Performance Program is School of Rock's hallmark music program, where tens of thousands of students enroll each year. Utilizing the patented School of Rock Method, Performance Program consists of a weekly group rehearsal where kids and teens learn by playing rock music's most iconic songs with a band composed of their peers. Students are assigned songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts. Students then work through their parts in weekly private music lessons, and refine the skills and concepts that those songs introduce. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare kids and teens for live performances. Every few months, Performance Program students take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience.

disco

performance program Saturdays 11:00 - 1:00

Disco marked the dawn of the modern era of dance-based popular music. Growing out of the increasingly groove-oriented sound of early '70s and funk, disco emphasized the beat above anything else, even the singer and the song. Disco was named after discotheques, clubs that played nothing but music for dancing. Naturally, these records also had strong pop hooks, so they could have crossover success. In no time, the insistent, pounding disco beat dominated the pop chart, and everyone cut a disco record, from rockers like the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart to pop acts like the Bee Gees and new wave artists like Blondie. There were disco artists that became stars -- Donna Summer, Chic, the Village People, and KC & the Sunshine Band were brand names.

glam rock

performance program sundays 1:30 - 3:30

Often confused with '80s hair metal (at least by American listeners), glam rock was an almost entirely British phenomenon that became wildly popular during the first half of the '70s. Glam rock was fairly simple, crunchy guitar rock put across with outrageous theatricality. Most of the music was unabashedly catchy, with melodies drawn from teenage bubblegum pop and hip-shaking rhythms from early rock & roll. Bands like Sweet, Slade, T Rex, David Bowie, The New York Dolls, Mott the Hoople and even Kiss. Glam Rock had a huge influence on 80s hair bands like Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella and Britny Fox.

We're an american band

jr performance wednesdays 5:30 - 7:30

A walk down memory lane to revisit some of the All-American Classics... think bands like Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes and of course Grand Funk Railroad. Some of the biggest bands in the world were American bands like Aerosmith, Kansas, Eagles and the Allman Brothers. These bands were huge stadium bands that defined a generation and influenced the next generation of great rockers from around the globe.

GRAD SKEWL

ADULTS AGE 18+ Tuesdays 6:45 TO 9:15

School of Rock North Palm Beach's Adult Program is for students over 18 years old who are looking to either improve their musical proficiency or pick up an instrument with no prior musical experience. As with most School of Rock music programs, the Adult Program uses a performance-based music education approach. This means the curriculum focuses on learning music concepts and applying them in a live performance setting. Our Adult Music Program includes one weekly private music lesson and a weekly group rehearsal. Every student at School of Rock South Palm Beach is placed in a band of fellow adults and then assigned specific songs as a way of learning key music concepts and skills. Adult students then take the stage to play at a live show.
