ALL OF SCHOOL OF ROCK PORT JEFFERSON’S MUSIC TEACHERS ARE EXPERIENCED MUSICIANS DEVOTED TO HELPING STUDENTS ATTAIN MUSICAL PROFICIENCY. LILY G.

LILY IS AN INTERNATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST FROM UKRAINE. SHE HAS KNOWN MANY DIFFERENT CULTURES, SINGS IN MANY DIFFERENT LANGUAGES (ENGLISH, SPANISH, ITALIAN, FRENCH, UKRAINIAN,POLISH, GREEK ETC.) AND ALSO HER COMPREHENSIVE MUSIC EDUCATION (MUSIC SCHOOL , MUSIC COLLEGE, STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC) INCLUDES VOICE, PIANO, HARP, CHOIR CONDUCTOR AND MUSIC THEORY.
LILY'S STUDENTS RANGE IN AGE FROM THE VERY YOUNG TO ADULTS. SHE HAS TAUGHT MUSIC AT MANY LEVELS AND IN MANY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES FROM PRIVATE LESSONS TO FULL CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION. 
LILY HAS WRITTEN,  RECORDED AND PERFORMED HER OWN MUSIC IN THE UNITED STATES, EUROPE AND THE UAE. HER RECORDINGS CAN BE FOUND ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIA, YOUTUBE, ETC. LILY HAS PERFORMED WITH THE UKRAINIAN ORCHESTRA AT THE LARGEST CONCERT HALL IN LVIV, UKRAINE, THE 911 BAND PERFORMING TOP 40 MUSIC THROUGHOUT UKRAINE AND THE ARAB EMIRATES, THE NEW MILLENNIUM JAZZ BAND IN NEW YORK AND MANY SOLO ENGAGEMENTS IN EUROPE AND THE UNITED STATES. 
LILY'S COMBINED, EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE VOICE AND HOW IT WORKS ALONG WITH HER VERY WARM APPROACH TO TEACHING MAKES FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR ALL OF HER STUDENTS.

Henrique C.

Henrique, a Brazilian guitarist is renowned for his refined and expressive musicality. He earned his bachelor's degree in classical guitar from the University State of São Paulo (Brazil) and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Guitar Performance at Stony Brook University (USA).
Henrique has received prizes in several prestigious international competitions, including the Houston Classical Guitar Competition 2024, Souza Lima Competition, and among others. He was also awarded the Cultura Artística Scholarship, which allowed him to further develop his artistry under the mentorship of maestro Fábio Zanon.
Carvalho has performed in various cities, such as New York, Miami, Arizona, Rochester, Buffalo, Colorado - Aspen (Aspen Music Festival), São Paulo, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Piauí, and Others. He has premiered significant musical works, including world premieres by leading guitar composers. Notably, he performed "South Loop" by Sergio Assad, a piece dedicated to him as part of his participation in the Guitar Foundation of America’s (GFA) inaugural mentorship program. Other premieres include "Prelude no. 2" and "Improvisos" by João Luiz; "Choro Eterno" by Celso Machado; "Canção en Samba" by Áureo Carreño; and "Prelúdio & Dance" by Joabe Guilherme.
Henrique has participated in numerous masterclasses with prominent classical guitar figures, such as Scott Tennant, Sergio Assad, Sharon Isbin, and others. Additionally, he had the privilege of studying with world-class guitarist-composer Benjamin Verdery (YALE) through the GFA mentorship program.
Henrique, alongside his colleagues, recorded the albums "Novos Violões" and "Retratos Brasileiros," leveraging social media to perform and discuss various classical guitar repertoires. He is also passionate about teaching guitar and has achieved significant success as an educator, with his students winning prizes in notable competitions, including the National Villa Lobos-Fito and the International Souza Lima.

 

Derek C.

Derek is a bass teacher and assistant show director at the school with a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta. He began his lessons as a student with School of Rock Port Jefferson and it was his experience there that motivated him to teach the next generation of rock stars. Having been a member of the Performance Program and House Band, Derek always managed to bring an infectious energy that made it impossible to ignore an often over looked instrument. He has intimate knowledge of the School of Rock method and how it can bring out the best in his students. 
Derek encourages his students to break out of their shells, go out of their comfort zones, and unleash their inner rock star. But above all else he hopes his student remember that music is fun. 

Lexi B.

Lexi is an experienced, gigging musician who can be found playing at many restaurants and venues across Long Island. She is a School of Rock alum who was an avid member of many seasonal shows, Houseband and AllStars. You will likely find Lexi teaching Little Wing, Rookies, and vocal lessons to students of all ages.
Lexi is currently attending Stony Brook University to obtain a degree in Childhood Psychology. In addition to this, Lexi is a teacher's assistant at a preschool where she incorporates music into her students everyday learning. While in school, Lexi has been a part of numerous musical groups, such as a cappella, choral and theater and has even directed groups. 
Lexi is excited to work with her students at School of Rock and continue to spread her appreciation of music to all. 

Devon C.

Devon is a multi-instrumentalist teacher — primarily keyboard, vocals, and wind instruments. He received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia where he majored in Music Education and Jazz Studies.
Devon is a School of Rock alum who strives to create the same positive educational atmosphere as a teacher that he experienced here as a student. His goal as an educator is to give students an outlet to make music they love and open the door to life-long learning in music through introducing students to all genres (including sub-genres) of rock, pop, jazz, and classical music.
Devon also works as a 4th/5th grade Band and Orchestra teacher and specializes in teaching music notation, music theory, and instrumental technique for non-traditional School of Rock instruments including saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, trombone, tuba/euphonium, french horn, percussion (battery and mallet), violin, viola, cello, and string bass.
