From as early as she can remember, Ashley has always loved music. Unlike most kids, Ashley was not forced to take up an instrument, she was the one who had to persuade her parents to let her start taking piano. Ashley started her music learning later at age 11, but soon after she got a taste she was hooked! At 17, she started voice lessons, studying for eleven years and entering many festivals. She then went on to take the Royal Conservatory grade 7 piano and theory exam.

From Beethoven to Led Zeppelin, Ashley has a wide range of musical knowledge and loves sharing her passion and techniques! She started at School of Rock as an Adult Program student to learn guitar. That eventually led to forming the band Fifth Quarter, with other former adult students and performing at gigs, which she enjoys. In addition to teaching, Ashley also is an Assistant Studio Coordinator at the School of Rock in Regina.

Singing Teacher Ron Scott
Ron Scott
Vocal Instructor
Ron started taking guitar lessons at the Academy of Music in Regina when he was 8 years old for about 6 years. At one point in his journey taking lessons, he started writing songs. Ron’s teacher noticed his aptitude for writing, so he asked Ron to write a song a week--and he has been writing music ever since. For post secondary education, he took lessons at the University of Toronto Conservatory while living there and performing extensively. He also lived in Vancouver, performing regularly there to earn a living. He moved back to Regina 14 years ago and started working at Talking Dog Studios where he composed music for movies, commercials and TV shows, including the hit TV show, 'Corner Gas' and The Canadian Antique Road Show. He is eager to pass all of his music knowledge along to the students at School of Rock. Ron is married and has 3 grown children.
Drum Teacher Rob Green
Rob Green
Drum Instructor
Rob has been beating his drums since he got his first kit at age 11. From that moment on he knew that rocking was his business, and business could be good!

While playing in the high school jazz band, Green won numerous awards and scholarships. After high school he began a long nightclub tour across Canada with friends who shared his obsession with “The Doors” and “AC/DC.” Soon after, Green recorded original tracks with "Eva Gold" an original band that gained much success touring Western Canada. He continued to play and record in a variety of original and cover bands in Regina while attending the University of Regina. In 2002 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Film and Video but shooting videos and editing TV shows soon started to conflict with his increasingly busy gigging schedule. He decided that music and drumming consistently made life more awesome and for the past 15 years he has made it his main source of income. During that time Green played with numerous popular cover bands including "Wonderland" and Regina's well known 70’s classic rock tribute band "Men Without Shame." In 2004 Green also played with Canada's Grammy award winning trio "The Wilkinsons".

Eventually Green felt a need to escape the prairie winters so he and some friends gained work as musicians on a cruise ship. Gaining experience as the ship's band director, Green had the opportunity to visit Australia, New Zealand, San Diego, Mexico and many South Pacific Islands. After this phase, Green had the opportunity to become land-based again at some of the world's finest 5-star hotels in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Oman, Dubai and recently Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Beijing in China. Rob is happy to be back in Regina now and super excited to share his passion for music as a teacher and Rock 101 Director at School of Rock
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher Francisco Trigoso
Francisco Trigoso
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
Hailing from Peru, Francisco's guitar journey began when he was captivated by the iconic riff in Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water." This ignited his love for various forms of rock music, spanning from punk rock to heavy metal. Francisco decided to play the guitar when he picked up a three-stringed guitar and tried to figure out the chords of a song he learned by ear. When Francisco realized it wasn't quite right, he understood the importance of truly knowing what you're playing.

Francisco is passionate about playing songs that evoke emotions in people, with a special fondness for the melodic minor scale. His all-time favourite band is Iron Maiden, though his appreciation for music knows no bounds.

Playing the guitar greatly aided Francisco's adaptation when he moved to Canada. In just three months, he learned more than he had in all his previous years of playing. When he is on stage, Francisco commits to his performance and showcases his musical skills, and transmits energy to the audience.

Since relocating to Regina, Francisco has been an active member of bands like Skid Wicked, Dangerous Cheese, and Vinyl Society. He draws inspiration from guitarists of the '80s, including legends like Steve Vai, Vito Bratta, John Sykes, and many others. His personal anthem is "Yankee Rose" by David Lee Roth.

Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher Matt Totten
Matt Totten
Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher
After developing a solid foundation studying guitar with several instructors from different schools in
Regina in his early to mid-teens, Matt turned to the stage to further his musical education. Starting with
parties and school events, Wyz Guy played its first paying gig in 1992 at the now-defunct Plains Hotel.
Since then, Matt has maintained a presence in the local rock scene; most notably as the guy with the
hair from Parlor Trixx, and most recently with Vinyl Society and The Country Band (in the latter he’s
taken on a multi-instrumental role including keys and mandolin). His notable stops along the way have
included bands like the Real Canadian Threetles, Rhymes With Fun, Smoke Break, and others.
Playing guitar, bass, or whatever other instrument is needed, along with being the foundation of several
of those band’s vocal harmonies has afforded Matt the opportunity to play all kinds of gigs over the past
three decades. From house parties raided by cops in the early days to playing festival stages and
supporting acts like Wide Mouth Mason, Bif Naked, April Wine, Headpins, The Northern Pikes, Sebastian
Bach, The Smalls, and others, Matt is still seeking to learn from every new experience.

When not performing live, Matt keeps busy writing and recording music and has sold albums worldwide.
He also does setup and repair work on guitars and basses, and has recently started crafting his own
instruments. He lives in Regina with the two youngest of four children and his long-time spouse, Erin.
Says Matt, “I’m excited about the opportunity to teach at School of Rock. I believe that the only thing
more exciting than learning something new is sharing knowledge with others! I look forward to many
successful seasons and will strive to help anyone, of any age or ability, learn and get better.”
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher Aidan Hillman-Baker
Aidan Hillman-Baker
Bass Guitar Teacher, Guitar Teacher
Aidan's musical journey has been quite a ride. It all began with his grandpa, who gave Aidan his first taste of music. After a couple of years under his grandpa's guidance, Aidan took the reins and started teaching himself. Along the way, he had the privilege of taking lessons from local musician Ken Burton, which helped Aidan refine his skills. Later on, Aidan became a School of Rock student and he continued growing as a musician.

With over seven years of bass playing and over eight years of strumming the guitar under his belt, music has become a big part of who Aidan is. What makes it even more special is getting to share the stage with other talented Regina artists, playing gigs, and creating music that connects with people. It's not just a hobby, it's his passion, and Aidan can't wait to see where his musical journey takes him next.
