british invasion performance camp
The British Invasion featured numerous rock and pop bands that achieved massive popularity in the United States, led by iconic groups like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Kinks. Other prominent bands from this era include The Animals, The Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, The Hollies, and The Zombies.
The Second British Invasion included pop, new wave, and rock bands from the early 1980s, such as Duran Duran, The Police, Culture Club, and Eurythmics. Other notable acts included Adam and the Ants, A Flock of Seagulls, and Def Leppard, bringing a new wave of synth-pop, new wave, and heavy metal sounds to the American charts.
And then there’s Britpop, which was a British music and cultural movement in the 1990s that featured guitar-based alternative rock, often with catchy melodies and lyrics celebrating British identity. It emerged as a reaction against the grunge scene and drew heavy influence from 1960s British pop, 1970s glam rock, and 1980s new wave. Key bands include Oasis, Blur, Pulp, and Suede, with others like Elastica and Supergrass also prominent. This camp could explore any of the many decades of British bands that have entertained and influenced so many.
Great for students 10 years and older who have had prior instruction and are already musicians.
