Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher Zack Stewart
Zack Stewart
Keyboard + Piano Teacher, Guitar Teacher, Bass Guitar Teacher, Drum Teacher
Zack Stewart’s first memory of being interested in music was on a playground in the fourth grade. The song was "Shout at the Devil" and the minute school was over, Mötley Crüe was to be his first album purchase. Many rock, metal, and punk albums were to follow.

The first time Zack made music was when his best friend got a guitar and they realized they could do this band thing too. So at 12 years old, Zack got a drum set and they made their friend Jack Hanlon get a bass. The punk rock group Social MENACE was born! Jack eventually formed The Amazing Royal Crowns, who went on to become one the most successful bands out of Providence.

In high school music class, Zack got an Irish tin whistle and had an instant connection. He thought it would be cool to mix hardcore and Celtic music, so he formed a band called Paddy's Pig. They had vocals, drums, bass, guitar, banjo, accordion, and tin whistle and were a seven-piece explosion who gigged all over Boston and Providence. One night in 1997 they played with a new band called Dropkick Murphys, who back then only consisted of the standard guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, and played straight-ahead punk. After the show, they said they were blown away by Paddy’s Pig and a month later Dropkick Murphys added bagpipes, banjo, and accordion, and became the biggest band Boston has known.

Music has taken Zack all over the country and he can't imagine a life without this creative outlet. He is excited to write the next chapter right here at the School of Rock in Seekonk!

Reviews

You have formed a family.

The bonds formed between the kids, the parents and the many spawned bands should make School of Rock very proud. I have never experienced anything like this in any youth organization. You have recruited the best and most talented array of artists I've ever witnessed.

Life began when we walked in!

The strength of School of Rock Seekonk comes from the quality of its instructors. These folks are well-trained, working musicians who provide expert, practical lessons. More importantly, they are nice people who are a pleasure to work with.

World-Class Instructors!

The instructors are the real heart and soul of the place. In addition to their musical acumen, they care enough to take the time to teach the students critical life lessons like teamwork, patience, perseverance and respect for others and oneself to name a few.

School of Rock helped my daughter grow.

I have seen my daughter grow to appreciate music so much so that she plays three different instruments. Since attending the school for a little over 2 1/2 years, she has been more outgoing! She also has improved in school thanks to School of Rock!

School of Rock is a wonderful place!

They do a great job teaching all aspects of music to young and old alike. My son and niece love going there. They are very supportive and encouraging.

It has been a great experience for my grandson.

My grandson looks forward to his personal lessons and the band practice each week. It has also contributed heavily to his self-confidence and helped him to build self-esteem. In addition, it has significantly increased his music appreciation.

I love the Adult Program.

Playing in the Adult Program band is a great experience and a wonderful way to learn. Plus I have made some great friends.

What a great program.

It's a lot of fun learning to play music and meeting new friends. The instruction is awesome.

We love the teachers.

They’re fun. You learn a variety of songs. My son gets the experience of playing in a band. The instructors are phenomenal.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

You have a great program to help kids grow and hone their artistic talents. I see young people spending hours there and making lifelong friends with something they have in common and encouraging each other. Nice work!

My daughter loves School of Rock!

My daughter has loved her first two months at School of Rock. She likes her instructor and enjoys learning different techniques with music she enjoys and wants to learn. The band rehearsals have been a great way for her to find her voice.

Everyone at School of Rock is awesome.

It's a great way to get off the couch and learn how to play in a band without being intimidated. Everyone there is awesome. The private lessons keep me on track, the instruction is fantastic and band practice is so much fun. I've improved my playing tremendously since I started.

It's a great place to become a musician.

The teachers are skilled, helped me set and support personal goals, and provided the guidance to play in a band. I practice with passion and look forward to performing weekly. This is THE place to become a musician.

I love the staff and the environment!

My teacher is great and such a fabulous musician. I cannot think of a better band coach too. He works the band like a conductor of an orchestra and knows exactly what each and every one of us should do and play.

My daughter can make music with her friends.

She’s been taking drums at another studio for a few years and this helped her develop technical proficiency but at a certain point it stopped being new and fun. Making music with others has re-energized her.

A personal approach with professionals who make learning fun.

SOR provides a personal approach with professionals who make learning fun. During these challenging days, SOR has stepped up with new ways to remain connected and continue the learning experience. I highly recommend the school to my friends and anyone who wants to make music.

Great staff and great place for kids!

Great staff especially during this difficult situation. Sean always is there for questions and John works with my daughter and she just loves School of Rock! Great place for kids! :)

I've seen growth in my child's development based on her playing in a real band.

My daughter enjoys SOR and has become a better drummer. Playing with others was key in her continued development as a musician and I've seen growth based on her playing in a real band. Also the instruction is very strong and she enjoys (it's fun - not work).

School of Rock programs exceed all others.

School of Rock program's excellent staff and flexible teaching methods put it far in excess of anything else offered by contemporaries in the field.

It's the perfect blend of learning to create a musician.

Teachers are passionate about music and teaching. More importantly, A student learns to play the music he/she loves, and learns important techniques along the way. The perfect blend needed to create a musician.

School of Rock is everything a parent and student could ask for.

School of Rock is everything a parent and student could ask for. Great staff, excellent conditions, kind instructors, extremely knowledgeable, caring and compassionate to our children. The staff and band have changed my daughter’s life. Best decision we ever made!

My son looks forward to lessons and I don't need to nag him to practice!

My kid has thoroughly enjoyed his lessons and looks forward to them! He's improving and I don't ever have to nag him to practice, unlike other music instruction practices. He also looks up to his teachers who are good musicians and people.

An excellent place to be if you are an aspiring musician

School of Rock is an excellent place to be if you are an aspiring musician! The instructors are talented, knowledgeable, devoted, and patient. Our family has been extremely happy with School of Rock in Seekonk!

My son loves to practice here!

There is never a problem with getting my teenage son to practice. He just spontaneously does it and goes above and beyond.m The Performance bands are lots of fun and give the kids to exposure performing in a non-pressure and cool way.

The camps are a huge confidence builder

The 1-week camp is a great opportunity for campers to improve their skill and build new skills with different instruments. They have a great time coming together as a band and it's a huge confidence builder with a rocking show in just a few short days.

School of Rock is an absolute gem!

I am a huge fan of performance-based learning and the way it helps shape young musicians. Pair that with an inclusive environment where kids feel welcomed and free to express themselves and then you'll understand what makes School of Rock an absolute gem!

I really like the group and individual lesson format

The group and individual lesson format teaches the kids how to actually cooperate and play in a band, count off, listen to each other, music theory, etc. I also like that School of Rock does not just teach reading sheet music and helps students gain the ability to improvise.
